Sapphire warranty fail

I hate Sapphire RMA. I'm in Canada and dealt with Althon Micro in California years ago when my 9800SE 128MB 256-bit died. Had to pay both way shipping and I wrote in the e-mail, the RMA paperwork and a piece of paper attached to the dead card that I want a 256-bit model back, not the 128-bit...

Mobo really hot when delivered

No, it should be fine. If you can cook an Xbox 360 mobo into an oven to "fix" RROD, your mobo should be fine after 30 minutes in a box under the sun.

Motherboard Life Expectancy?

My current server ran 24/7 for 6+ years before I recently shut it down for upgrade. My previous one ran 24/7 for ~4 years before it was upgraded. Mostly idles I suppose and serving files wasn't much of a drain.

Capacitors are cheap and it's easy to replace as long as you have a half decent solder gun and some solder. Solder sucker optional.

Motherboard Life Expectancy?

My Abit KR7A-RAID from 2002 is still running in my old server. My Abit KT7-RAID from 2001 was running fine up till it was retired 3 years ago; however, it did need some new capacitors because it was built during the time the world had a huge bad batch of capacitors.

i3/i5 motherboard other than Gigabyte P55-UD3

I've build several systems with the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3. Sure, it's refresh of the P55-UD3 but on the 3 x i5 750 systems I've done (2 mild gaming ones and one Photoshopping/video work one with 8GB of RAM) have all been running fine on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
