Ummm, Wouldn't the fan on the backside of the MB just cool off the thermister itself and skew the results? I'm not sure of your setup, but on mine the thermister is located in the center of the socket below the core. It sounds like an interesting idea, but I'm unsure if it'd affect a real...
You might also consider if the Motherboards are of different types -the position of the CPU in relation to the rest of the case could affect CPU temp's. An inch or two different in MB placement will make a bit of difference to how the air is circulating in the case. Also, Temp readings from...
I didn't use a razor blade either. I used a soft piece of plastic to scrape the bulk and a cleaning product called Thoro to disolve the remaining material. Thoro smells a bit like dry cleaning fluid and you can purchase it at stores like Payless drug stores-- maybe Walmart has it.
