Is the $10 backplate on the XFX cards worth it? Also, does anyone know if they still have good warranty support?
I remember them having good warranties in the past, and right now I am looking to pick up two of them over the other brands because of those two things.
Glad to hear that. I installed the 16.6.1 hotfix drivers and was only getting 20MH at first, so I tried the 15.12 drivers and jumped to 25MH. After that tried changing some of the OCL setting and finally got them to that 30-31MH range.
Is 19MH ok for a 7970ghz? Seem like that is as fast as I...
Nvidia will just start talking about the GP106 within a week of the 480 coming out or they even do something like the did with the 980ti and Furyx. Would not shock me if they have the cards ready and waiting.
I think it would of been an issue for them to have a 1070 before it was out. Pretty sure they used what they had and that is why they did the Crossfire vs 1080.
I am sure it will be AMD fault, driver team just kicking back drinking beers. Once the game is out, they will get to work and make drivers for the game and the FPS will go up. But that will not happen until after the reviews are out for the game.
I agree with you, that would have been a smart move. I think people in here would of given AMD a harder time comparing it to an "Old Model". Thing is AMD can not win right now, no matter what they do. People are going to say something bad no matter how they do something, sure they could of...

I have notice that Bestbuy has been doing a lot better on prices, they are also a lot better on price matching internet now. Moonbogg got screwed over by Bestbuy changing for the better.
Lets not forget he is not using the card in a case while doing this. Just think how bad the temps will be in a case, those setting he did will not really work and he only did it for a short time. Who only games for 5mins?
I know it is the internet, but if the reviews were in a magazine showing the spec, isnt that were the term paper launch came from? Wouldnt that be a "soft launch" at that point? Seems like people are just trying to fight paper launch because they think it is a bad term, but it is a good way to...
I agree that this is a paper launch, but I dont understand why people think that paper launches are bad. I think they are a way to build value to a product. It allows people to see what they are getting and lets them get ready to buy the product.
Why set the MSRP to $599 if the the "Founders Edition" cooler can hardly keep the card at reasonable temps? If a cheaper cooler was put on it, wouldnt it throttle a lot? I don't think it would be wise to buy one at $599 if it is going to be slower than 980ti because of the lower clock speeds it...
It could be that the game needs an update for that card, just have to wait and see.
I will say that this card is just way to overpriced for what it is. I really hope this backfires on Nvidia, the prices are getting crazy high. Would not be shocked to see the 1080ti at $1,000 when it comes out.
I was thinking/hoping it would be sometime this year. Maybe they are just waiting on HBM2 production, I dont think that Vegas is much different over Polaris other than the memory.
I dont if they fear to be upset by AMD, but I think what I put in bold is right.
I just keep thinking of the 980TI. Nvidia seem to hold onto it knowing about what AMD was bring and when. They put out the 980TI just before them and at a lower price then what people would of though of. I...
I find it really hard to explain that to people. They seem to want the best for years to come, I wonder if AMD is only starting to catch up to Nvidia in games because they already stopped working on the drivers. That way it is easier for review sites to show the newer video card beating the...
Feel like Nvidia is forcing out their product faster because they want to undermine AMD like they did with the 980ti and Furyx. I don't think they are really ready and that is why they are having the founders card(lower inventory, high prices). I would not be shocked if Nvidia has someone in AMD...
I agree, I think it will be 390X/980 performance and lower power usage. I wish it would be 980ti or better, that just seem to good to be true.
I am really looking forward to the laptop gpu, will be looking at a new gaming laptop shortly. The idea of Freesync and powerful low power DX12 GPU...

I agree about some things can be worth reading at times, not so sure about the "Fud Fighter". I do see him getting under some people's skin a lot.
I would say this is more of a good start for AMD, I do not think they care to much about being praised currently. I think they want to stop Gameworks and make their own Hardware look better. AMD has a long road ahead to catch up to Nvidia and this is just a stepping stone for them.
Now that...
Kind of sounds like Nvidia's drivers were trying to access the Compute and they had to disable it completely to stop their drivers from using it.
Edit:
Found more information about this. It does look like AMD is still using Async Compute and that they redirected Nvidia to DX 11 pathways.
