    jack: Me thinks that it is designed that way much the way some VCRs, when rewinding a video tape, slows down near the end of the rewind cycle. It's easier on the tape and mechanical components. It slows down so it won't jar the gears. Maybe??

    It should be a pretty quick car. I had the 540 motor in one of my old Radio Shack $150 RC cars, and it was one of their fastest ones. (1500 fps, or something like that).
