Good racing games for PC?

If you can find a copy of Nascar 2003 by Sierra and modify it with the GTP mod, you will end up with one of the most realistic sims available. The mod is a free download as are lots of car skins, tracks and setups. The forums at racesimcentral.com are an excellent source for virtual gearheads...

Best wheel/pedal set for pc?

Purchase a closeout copy of Sierra's Nascar 2003 and then download Redline Developments GTP mod. IMHO it's the best racing sim yet. Try chassis 2(Jaguar) or chassis4(Mazda). It's a bit of a pain to get it installed but worth the effort. Check out the forums at racesimcentral.com for...

Any1 know what is JBL Control SB-5?

It appears that your sub is for a distributed voltage line system. This means that it is suited for applications like Madison Square Garden. The driver and amp are probably very high quality but it will be difficult to integrate well in a home-theatre or PC multimedia environment.

Autoplay CD drive

Try this: start>run>gpedit.msc>OK>computer config>admin templates>open the system folder>double click "turn off autoplay"> click the enabled button> apply>OK> restart. Taken from MaximumPC magazine September pg 62. WTH it's worth a try.

Gigabyte 9600XT Issues

Sidewinder Precision 2 problem (?)

My MS Precision 2 has about about 1/4" of play. My guess is that it could be tightened up. Seven screws hold the bottom plate on. There is no screw under the rubber pad located directly under button 7. Hope this helps.

steering wheel with win XP

I just finished racing NFSPU with my TSW2 under XP. Mine is connected to the gameport on a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. It did call my brake a rudder when calibrating. The wheel worked fine. Wish I could say the same for the game menus. Probably need to try new video drivers for my menu issues.

S1590S Trinity 100AT Troubleshooting

Check your motherboard core voltage jumpers/dipswitches and the split V I/O jumper for your K6-3. And as I recall my 1590s was very finicky on the ram used. It has been a long time ago. Good Luck

How are steering wheels these days?

The Microsoft wheels are a good value. Very hard to beat at their price point. Better yet is the Logitech MoMo. If Santa is getting it for you, ask for a Thomas-Superwheel or a BRD. All of the above will add enjoyment and are worth getting. "Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?"

I bought one of those Quantex/Diamondtron's that rogue1979 recommended. An aperture grill 19" for $169 shipped. Very nice indeed! My only regret is that it was/is for my son and he won't trade for my Compaq(sniff.) Thanks rogue1979.
