took GPU out for cleaning& reinstalled. now I have distortion/crosstalk noise alien noise with audio

If you're not getting your audio from the video card, I doubt this has anything to do with it. More lilkely that you knocked the front panel connector loose when messing with the card. Are you using USB or audio jack for your headset?

I must admit I don't know what power costs anywhere else. I actually had to look it up to know what it costs me :P ... Which is ~2 dkr/kWh. That's not big money at all, considering i reckon it'd take me 50 gaming hours to rack up 1 kWh difference between a R9 380 and a GTX 970. I'm more worried...

8400GS vs G210 for oldish HTPC

Alright. If i understand everything correctly, the 8400 should be enough. Then again, my other hardware may be too crappy. I can't find out for sure if it has SPDIF, so it probably doesn't. Means I'll have to swap a cable each time i want sound. If only everything was easy :) Thanks for the help...
