Yeah I gotta pay tax on all Newegg shopping, but Newegg usually has really good deals so it's ok. Sometimes Amazon.com will beat Newegg due to lack of sales tax (and Amazon always has free SUPER SAVER shipping for the kinda stuff we're buying here)
According to Tweaktown's numbers...the 6970 does look like a good, solid option for a single-card solution, and it's price is definitely right.
Two-card solutions will still beat it of course both in performance and cost but the 6970 is still competitive.
I'm thinking of eventually getting 2 additional 1920x1080 monitors to use Nvidia Surround (2D version). My video cards only have 1 GB of ram. Will that make 5760x1080 resolution be unplayable? I hope I don't need to upgrade since I just got my cards a month ago.
Also, on the Nvidia website...
It's a good deal, but is it an "inventory-clearing" sale? A bit more than a month back I got my 460s for $177 each *after* tax, so it wasn't that much more expensive back then.
For $150 or less after mail in rebate, you're looking at a GTX460 768mb. Here's a Zotac one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500173
After MIr it's only $130.
Still, if you want to make sure you don't slow down at the higher resolutions, you can go for a 460 1GB version instead...
Man I feel so behind. I just got Windows 7 and only about 7 months ago did I seriously start using the PS3.
I hope a new system doesn't come out anytime soon. :p
When do you think DX12 will come out? I plan to keep my 460s for 3 years or so. Hopefully the GTX660 will have come out by then. I like skipping generations.
My "Normal" Vcore value keeps changing, but I think it always settles to around 1.19350 if I use overclock settings instead of the...
Wierd. After I un-OC'ed my system my "Normal" voltage went UP to 1.26250, so now I have it at that and my dynamic at +.08750.
And my processor is still only going down to 2.4. Sometimes it jumps suddenly to 2500. I'm using Real Temp 3.6 to monitor my clock speed in real yime and occassionally...
Oh I see...the true "normal" can't be seen unless I first de-OC my system. I've enabled the power saving features and my current Normal is 1.19375 and my Dynamic is +0.15625. Right now just browsing the web my speed is down to 2.4 Ghz and the CPU-Z displayed Vore is 1.104. I'll try to find my...
Right now I have C1E, EIST, and SpeedStep disabled, and I'm using Dynamic Vcore. So my Vcore starts at 1.328 and will only go up from there? Yeesh I'm also currently running Intel Burn test and my cores are reaching 100C!!!! Time to restart and try power saving options. Or turn up fans.
I'm away from my home computer right now. Power saving options are are and stepping are off. LLC is on, and I think my idle Vcore is around 1.328-ish on CPU-Z. CPU speed idles at 4.2 ghz.
I'd recommend a PSU switch just on principal, since it is one of the most important components in any system (a really bad one can fry your entire system). If you plan on upgrading to a more powerful card later on, I'd say you should just get an Antec Earthwatts 650 and you'll be set for all of...
Something is way wrong it seems.
i7 930 @ 4.2 Ghz, my 460s OC'ed to 865 core clock and 950 memory clock.
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/6734 - score: X1232
What the heck? Why does it say my core clock is 50 and my memory clock 135? And no matter hat configuration in the control panel I try I can't...
After reading the benchmarks, I'd say that you should go ahead and grab them. I mean, if 2 GTX 1 GB 460s gets slightly better framerates compared to a 580 on most games, then imagine what 2 470s can do. And it's less expensive to boot!
Yeah, but after HoTS there will be "Shadow of the Progenitors*" Protoss expansion for another $40.
*The name is purely speculative, but based on what we know of the SC2 universe, it's probably not all that far off...
