212+ on Newegg is a poor buy, it costs MORE than a Scythe Mugen 2. It's a ripoff at the $50 they make you pay for. Either buy it elsewhere or buy a different cooler. The XIgmatek GAIA is a version of the Xigmatek Dark Knight with a few improvements i.e. push pull fan compatibility and better...
The thing about AMD's GPU "cores" is that they work & are counted completely differently from nVidia's GPU "cores". Even if they were the same thing, AMD would provide the same performance for the same TDP. The same is the case for SB vs BD, because AMD redefined CPU "cores" with BD by using...
Consider that it is the first AMD chipset mobo out now to officially support SLI. So even if the Dozer isn't out, it might be worth it for some of you.
The Dozer was delayed for one of these reasons:
- B0/B1 stepping performance issues (Phenom TLB bug style or C2/C3 revision style?)
- To get Llano (mainstream) out first
Both which make sense
1600 CL9 1.65V is quite normal as it is a performance setting. 1333 CL9 at anywhere above 1.5V is not, this is a generic setting on the SPD, should never have to run above 1.5V or you have defective RAM.
A lot of AMD users have had issues with that particular RAM kit
I'd be more concerned about you using a 125W processor on that motherboard though (MSI 3+1 phase VRM), it's suicide. For more info on why, see the link in my sig: "About VRMs & MOSFETs", on overclock.net
Firefox 4 is memory adaptive. If you have more memory, then it will use that memory. If you're on a system with few memory, it will optimize as so to use less. Kinda like Windows 7 now actually.
A lot of people say that Firefox 4 is somewhat copying of Opera. I use opera as a secondhand browser; browsing/page-loading wise, firefox is as fast or faster than Opera for me with Fasterfox Lite installed.
Seems like an interesting interface you have... pics or it doesn't exist :p
I keep adblock/noscript/etc. in the vertical toolbar on the left, which is a bit quicker for access than a statusbar all the way back on the bottom of the screen.
Just wrote this on overclock.net. Taking it straight from there now.
This one's for all you firefox loyalists there like me
Just a few tips I might share to speed up firefox performance...
1. Tweak the profile/cache locations
A. If you have a solid state drive, move your profile to it by...
Actually now that I think of it... $60. He's right. I normally suggest 8+2 boards vs 4+1 boards (on AMD platforms) when they're the same price, and they usually are, but that's it.
Nice find, just posted this back on OCN. What disappoints me though is the lack of a 95W 955
Though the 95W 945 probably works for now, because I highly doubt a 95W 955 will remain black edition.
nVidia-chipset, AMD-socket boards are known for immense v-Droop.
Stock voltages are as follows:
CPU-NB: 1.15
VCore: ~1.3 (might depend on the chip)
HT voltage: 1.2
Ht frequency: 2000 (keep it there, increasing apparently has worse results)
NB frequency: 2000
I have no idea why your motherboard...
LGA1156 will be dead by the New-Year thanks to SB.
So is AM3... sort of... you do have the AM3+/Bulldozer-architecture upgrade path though. It will likely cost better to initiate an AM3 setup, but I guess it's up to you.
The GPU on the Llano will be more equal to a 5570 in performance.
I also think that Llano is a more notebook-focused chip than a desktop-focused one. By that, I mean that the notebook parts will either come at the same time as or before the desktop parts.
Actually I think single-threaded CPU clock is what matters the most.
I've also gotten SuperPi 32M scores better than Slappa using similar settings to the one above (1620Mhz 6-8-6-20)
MaxxMem or EVEREST would be best for benchmarking RAM directly. 32M is a good stability tester though.
This is why I usually recommend 1600Mhz low timings to most AMD users; it's very hard and requires a lot of tweaking to stabilize 2000Mhz on most AMD platforms - especially at low timings such as yours, Slappa :D
Most 2000Mhz RAM still sells with 9-9-9-24 timings. 1600 CAS6-7 RAM will match...
Your RAM should be fine - i always say all DDR3 kits work on all DDR3 motherboards; some fine-tuning may be needed but it will work. You could try increasing the RAM voltage by one or two notches.
Increasing CPU-NB voltage (memory controller voltage) could also help though. At all stock...
I ask this to myself too. There are the ECO's which nominally overclock better or run at lower voltages for the same price or cheaper ($94.99) than the Ripjaws (I've seen over $100 prices for a Ripjaws 7-8-7 set for comparison), and I recommend them to everyone who's looking at a set of...
If you're sure the CPU doesn't consume more than 150W or so you're good with the 4-pin connector. I'd go 8-pin for serious overclocking with a 95W+ processor however.
The N950 will destroy the i5-460M in multitasking performance (true cores vs. hyperthreading). Do it. Not to mention Intel HD, like all Intel integrated de-accelerators, cannot game most of the time; the 5650 definitely will.
