If its working properly, both the GPU and CPU should be loaded at 100%. Your gulftown should be more than fast enough to "keep up" with the 7970. That said, the AMD cards are generally much lower in F@H production than their nV counterparts. Save yourself the power and fold on your CPU...

win 7 is what I use. Theres enough customization software that I don't see a need to use any of the linux/XBMC alternatives. Of course, I also use cable card on my HTPC, which dictates win7...

They won't fool me again... I bought BLOPS because I was bored with BFBC2 and thought the game was pretty awful. It was a diversion, but I got tired of it extremely quickly . Now i'm bored with BF3 and I almost considered contemplating BLOPS2 before I remembered what a waste of money the first...

Wising up to "gaming" headphones

This right here. I had a pair of SteelSound 5H's that broke due to the crappy connectors on the headband. Now I have a ghetto setup of the 5H microphone set up as a desk mic with my Sennheiser HD555's. So much better than any of those "gaming headphones"

What kind of CPU do you look for in a laptop?

Agreed. I don't travel very much, but having a laptop is indispensable. Anyone who thinks a tablet is a real replacement for a laptop clearly doesn't need to actually do work it.
