Core 2 Quad on Intel DG33FB mobo possible?

Thanks for that. I didn't really trust that link much, seeing how it listed C2Q CPUs that have a TDP > 95W (eg Q6700 with a big 'Fully compatible' tick) as being compatible with the board; thus the question. The plan is to get a second hand one as the prices of these are still to high for me.

Core 2 Quad on Intel DG33FB mobo possible?

Well I did look through it a couple of times but I'm not sure what you're referring to! :) I did spot the Quad Core Xeons (X3230 esp.) that seem to fit the bill. But I don't know if I can get these anywhere any more...

Core 2 Quad on Intel DG33FB mobo possible?

Hi Wasn't sure whether to post this on the CPU or mobo forum but decided to do it here as this is about the mobo's capabilities (I think !). I have a fairly old Intel DG33FB mobo running a E7200 C2D proc. High level specs as follows: - Mobo: LGA775, 800Mhz dual-channel DDR2, GMA 3100 (but...

Wireless network with 2.4 Ghz FHSS cordless phone?

Unfortunately I already have a 2.4Ghz cordless phone that uses FHSS at home and now want to setup a wireless network. Also have a microwave but have tested that it doesn't affect the phone signal at all so it's probably adequately shielded. I know the phone is bound to cause interference in the...

    Socket 775/T suggestions?

For an Ubuntu file/web/FTP server, I think this will be the best bet, but it doesn't have a dual Gigabit LAN, just one... Intel BOXDB43LD LGA 775 Intel B43 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121391 I know folks here don't like Intel mobos due to lack...

Intel DH55TC/Core i3 550 - Hard drives magically disappeared (temporarily)

Hmm one last suggestion, your mobo supports SATA II (3 Gbps) but I'm guessing your drives (SSD and/ or HDD) MAY be SATA III (6 Gbps)... While SATA II/ III are supposed to be compatible I've heard of exceptions to this rule... The rear of the drives should have a jumper config to set them at...

Intel DH55TC/Core i3 550 - Hard drives magically disappeared (temporarily)

A few dumb suggestions - Seasonic 380 watt PSU: Is this sufficient for your build - SATA data/ power cables: Maybe loosened by all the shifting around? Or maybe quality of the data cables not good - Motherboard BIOS version: Please have a look if there is a BIOS update that is specific to your...

Default Question about BIOS update and installing a new cpu.

Folks apologies for the bump, but my query is still open. Or should I be posting this in a separate thread?

Default Question about BIOS update and installing a new cpu.

I have a very similar question so let me ask it here (if the OP doesn't mind!) - Intel DG33FB mobo (no overclocking possible) - Current BIOS version, CPU: 0407, Core 2 E7200 - Proposed BIOS version, CPU: 0484, Core 2 E8400 Not thinking of upgrading to Core 2 Quad as I don't do video...

    Upgrade?

Here I'm wondering whether its worthwhile to upgrade from Core 2 to SB and you're asking if you should upgrade from an "aged Dell with an i7-920"?? Clearly I need more cash, send me some! ;)

    Which PSU to buy?

Possibly a silly question, but I can't see your proposed system specs so, have you checked that you need 750W and the wide range and number of power connectors available on the shortlisted PSUs?

    Recertified WD20EADS with Advanced Format?

Russ, thanks for all the info and especially this piece of advice... I'll upgrade the case and get a new 1TB drive, Hitachi is looking the best to me right now... So I'll have one each of Seagate, WD and Hitachi in the case . Thinking of using the recertified 2TB WD drive a bit like...

    Recertified WD20EADS with Advanced Format?

No worries I'm terrified enough already and had the exact same thought re using this as an extra. Problem is that my existing case is pretty rotten, once screwed in place the rear ends of the hard drives overlap the motherboard and ventilation is poor. So I can't put in another drive w/o...

    Recertified WD20EADS with Advanced Format?

Hmm sound advice but seems like a lot of work! I thought I'd check hdparm first to see if it reports physical sector size of 4K (as some of the new EARS drives do) but it doesn't. Instead it doesn't report the physical size at all so the system works it out to be 512b based on number of sectors...

    Recertified WD20EADS with Advanced Format?

Have run an extended test and zeroising test via the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool. The tool consistently reports the model no WD20EADS. The same serial no + model no mentioned on the drive sticker is also mentioned: a. In the RMA fulfillment email b. In the warranty lookup for the given...

    Recertified WD20EADS with Advanced Format?

Hi All Had a WD Caviar Green 1.5TB crap out in 7 months, losing most of the data in the process (no SMART warnings). Replaced under RMA and have been shipped a recertified (aargh!) WD20EADS (WD Caviar Green 2TB). Now as per WD's site WD20EARS is Advanced Format while WD20EADS is not, but...
