do any 144hz Monitor/Card combination do 120hz in windows

I'm pretty sure any monitor that can do 120/144 Hz in games can also use that refresh rate on the desktop. I have an overclocked Korean 1440p monitor and it runs 100Hz in games and on the desktop. There's a noticeable improvement in smoothness even in Windows when you above 60Hz.

Would you still get a FTW?

I wouldn't consider any EVGA Pascal card now. This will be a black mark on those cards' reputations even if it doesn't have any impact on longevity. Good luck ever selling it. I'm hoping I can get a refund on my 1070 SC, but I purchased it in July so it's gonna be tough.

Pascal Buyers: What Did You Upgrade From?

Is the Micron M500 a good deal?

Looks like Newegg recently got a bunch of refurb/OEM M500 drives. I bought a refurb one in Canada last week for $110 CAD (480GB), which works out to $85 US, though it only has a 180 day warranty... the SMART data for my drive showed 51MB written and 5 days power-on time. I was pretty pleased...

Sounds lovely. That's quite an outlay to replace all spinnies at this stage in the game. I currently have 6TB in 5400 rpm storage drives - once I can get that for ~$500 in SSDs, I will join your elite club. The worst thing about the magnetic drives is the noise - I can't stand the noise.

GTX 750 ti v 950 for photographic work?

I'm mostly ignorant on this topic, but AFAIK there are only a select number of filters etc. that will run on the graphics card. Before spending precious money on one solely for photo processing, you should really look into whether or not the processing you do can actually be accelerated in CUDA...

Interesting find. I generally don't watch videos on my main (gaming/browsing) PC that has the X-star, but I definitely want to see how this SVP works. Does it generate the soap opera effect, or is it more subtle?

Why Against SSD in Office ?

It's too bad to hear about all these issues. I was plagued with panel defects when I was shopping for a 1440p display, and it looks like things aren't really getting better. I guess it's hard to make large, high-res panels at an affordable price for consumers.

1440p 144hz vs 4K 60hz

I play Dota 2 at 100Hz 1440p at home, but on a 60Hz monitor at my friend's place on LAN night. 60Hz is gross. It takes me at least a game to adjust to the worse refresh rate every week... I can only imagine how smooth 144Hz is. Considering you need at least a 980 Ti to game at reasonable...
