Not really 'few days' but I'd say about 7 or 8 hours, depending on how much flash there is and stuff.

    Name your 'perfect' song.

Welp. If I can go with electronic music, this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-4XD-wbalY I'm not sure it's really a "song" though. Otherwise, I'd go for Wish you were here or Nothing else matters.

I can tell you, that it has more travel than the button on Macbook 2007, but I'm not sure it's the answer you're looking for :)

    Haswell rMBP 13" first impressions

Few more impressions: - No IR on my part. I tested for 10 minutes. - Wow, that thing is cold in the morning! :) - I had one keyboard/touchpad freeze, but fixed it with closing and reopening the computer, and it never repeated after the firmware update apple pushed yesterday. - My only problem is...

    Haswell rMBP 13" first impressions

Okay, so my rMPB13 arrived. The screen is beautiful. The colors are ridiculously pretty, and fonts are perfect. There's no color anisotropy or yellow patches. I haven't tried IR test yet. The machine is completely silent. My only problem with it now is that both Firefox and Chrome are...

    Haswell rMBP 13" first impressions

The whole issue is pretty weird, the probabilities don't match up. Not many people are complaining. On MacRumors, there are about 50 of them or so (with the one guy who claims that IR is inevitable on all LG displays with no proof whatsoever). That would fit if about of of hundred units was...

I just ordered one. I'll get back with reports regarding the ghosting and color problems the new retinas seems to have as soon as I get my hands on it.

    Haswell rMBP 13" first impressions

Some people on macrumors are talking about how their newest rMPB have this issue. Apparently, the 13's only use LG displays. Also, there seem to be some problem with yellow patches on the screen? Well anand was the only one to actually measure the lag on last generation, so maybe he'll look...

    New ThinkPad T-Series Available.

The 440p looks interesting. You can get quadcore one with dedicated GPU and matte FHD IPS for about $1500. That's not bad, with the sales and black fridays and other stuff you over-the-ocean people have.

So, how often does that happen on 13" version? And does it happen from the beginning, or is it something that happens over time? with warranty being what it is here, my only chance is to get one, and test it, and return it right away if it happens. Damnit. That sucks.

That's the same on rMBP, actually: This is from Engadget review: It's product, geekbench, xbench (gpu one), battery life with the same task. Seeing that I'll be upgrading from 2007 macbook that measures about 700 on geekbench, I don't really mind. EDIT: 6,288 / 2.4 = 2620 6,812 / 2.5 = 2724...

Well, thorough review takes time, right? I'm more curious about notebookcheck review, because those are always full of hard data, like "loudness under max load", "temperature under max load" and similar. Other reviews look more like opinions or impressions compared to that. Engadget review was...

    MacBooks Tock-Tick: Haswell-Broadwell

Here's a notebookcheck review: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Lenovo-ThinkPad-T440s-20AQ-S00500-Notebook.103199.0.html The performance of the 1.6 Ghz CPU doesn't look great either:

Which new PC games are you anticipating most in the coming year?

Dark Souls 2. Witcher 3 (ideally they should team up on the combat system.) Assorted Kickstarter titles: Wasteland 2, Torment, Divinity, and the fourth one I don't remember. Terminator.

    New ThinkPad T-Series Available.

Really? Our local store says the T440s has 4 GB RAM, and max RAM 12 GB, that would suggest 4 GB soldered and one SO-DIMM slot. And the machine has traditional HDD, which should be easy to remove and upgrade. That's not as good as two RAM slots (for 16 or 32 GB of greatness), but better than...

    What's your favorite IDE?

This. You really should use VCS. You could do script for deployment, but I don't think you can do that easily on windows. It's trivial on Linux or Mac OS, though.

Some people reported this on older hardware after upgrading to 10.9, so I don't think it has anything to do with new MBPs.

Holy crap look at the MBA 13 with Mavericks battery life

According to notebookcheck review [1], in Germany, the Infinity with QHD display and 8G/256G is priced at 1800 €, while MBAs are 1099 (4/128) and 1299 (4/256). While this might not mean much for precise price somewhere else, the relation what is more expensive than what should hold, right? Now...

Holy crap look at the MBA 13 with Mavericks battery life

Those are at similar pricepoints? If that's the case, get the Infinity, it is better in everything than others. Here, it is way more expensive though. The VAIO and Zenbook have way better display than MBA or T440, but the T440 is probably the only one of them that you can upgrade. However...

I'm just thinking about this one. I'm waiting for the reviews if there are any unpleasant surprises like the ghosting on the first retina, or batches with terrible drives, or something, like last time (or was that zenbook?) How is the screen? And is there really no lag? I'd be upgrading from...

Apple users, which browser do you use?

FF. On my 2006 macbook it's faster than chrome, and I have anti-google paranoia. Sometimes I use safari, because some google docs documents require login with google account when accessed with firefox, but don't require it when accessed with safari.

How can I send 1.47 GB worth of photo's with a minimum amount of hassle?

Dropbox could work. They give 2GB for free, an at least on the upload side, they should take car of the integrity and connection reestabilithing and stuff, that you're going to need because of slow upload.

How does this look for a multi use server?

The system would be starved of IO. You don't list the disk configuration, but assuming they are 1 TB 7200 RPM drives, that's not enough IO for one or two machines, and especially not for five, where four of them run through 1 core 512 MB RAM NAS. Normally, the systems can use RAM to make up for...

Playing with AT case bench data

So, when AT onlined their case bench, someone said "hey, there should be graph of noise versus temperature, so we can find cases that are good compromises and stuff". Since AT didn't do that, and since deploying feature like that might take a long time, I decided to make them myself. First, we...

    Ultrabook with 1920x1080

Not necessarily. You can do J2EE development on two-core, because build more often than not are not parallel, but you can't really do it with 4 GB RAM, because the application won't fit into memory with the IDE. So you could do it on 8 GB ultrabook. It is still better served with workstation...

How does the Turing Machine form the basis of our computers?

Actually, for current computers, I'd go for PRAM as a model. I know Deterministic Finite State Machines can recognize only Regular grammars, so they are weaker than Turing Machine. Nondeterministic FSM are the same strength as DFSM, if you don't care about efficiency. And Stack Automata are...

Buy Macbook Pro now or wait?

Heh. I have the 2007 one (with GMA930 or 950 or whatever) and youtube is terrible. The best way to watch it without the laptop burning hole into my chest is using youtube-dl and VLC. Interestingly, VLC uses way less resources than MPlayer or Quicktime. No contest with flash video, of course...

    Ultrabook with 1920x1080

    Ultrabook with 1920x1080

I had very annoying problem with UX32VD which eventually led to me returning it -- it has broken thermal setup or something. It combines two factors: 1) When you're using the computer for light tasks (but not when it's completely idle), the CPU will warm up to about 55 degrees C. That's not...
