  1. Congress just killed Internet privacy protections

I'm sure in your mind you think you are making a valid point, but I can assure you it has no bearing whatsoever on the implications on the bill this thread is discussing.
  2. AMD X399 !!!!!

So everyone is excited about the HEDT platform again? Cool. Just a few months ago before Ryzen launched everyone was saying how overbuilt and overblown HEDT chips were and how no one wants them anymore and it is a dying market. Forgive me if it's hard to keep up. That said, it will be...
  3. Does Ryzen offer a smoother gaming experience?

I used to use 760 SLI and I definitely know micro-stuttering. It was atrocious in BF4. It got to the point I sold them and bought a 980. In fact, a single 760 delivered better game play with lower fps than SLI. Maybe enabling 'threaded optimization' in the Nvidia control panel helps...and...
  4. Does Ryzen offer a smoother gaming experience?

As I said...I see no choppiness in BF1 with fast sync getting 125 fps or with frame capping at 65 fps. No stuttering at all either way. I use it explicitly...all the time. Not just a couple of days...but for the last two months (new pc build). Anyway, let me educate you on something. When...
  5. Does Ryzen offer a smoother gaming experience?

Fast sync in my experience does not make games choppier. I say it improves the gaming experience because it eliminates tearing and on my system it is still butter smooth. Fast sync only works when your fps is above your refresh rate...My monitor is only 60hz. Not sure why you question my...
  6. Does Ryzen offer a smoother gaming experience?

I would not be surprised at all by this as well. My 7700K is butter smooth...especially with 'threaded optimization' on and 'fast sync' on in the Nvidia control panel.
  7. Benchmark your computer with Handbrake 1.01 and x265

Is that 3.6ghz on all cores Crono? ThoseRyzen chips are hella quick for productivity tasks.
  8. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Not sure, but it appears his overclocking results were not just a matter of hitting the silicon lottery. Most reviewers reviewed the 1700X or 1800X first so in a few days we should know more on how well the 1700 over clocks, but things appear promising. That is both good and bad news for AMD...
  9. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

If this has been posted, I apologize...the thread is rather long at this point...but check out this review of the R7 1700. Legit Reviews got their to 4ghz stable on all cores...besting even Joker's R7 1700 at 3.9ghz...and temps were held in check pretty well with the Corsair H110i. So, it...
  10. Why so much FUD/BS regarding Ryzen on these boards?

Because AMD needs to be called out on their BS for spreading FUD over Intel trying to influence reviews when it was AMD themselves who were trying to do it...not Intel. Ryzen is a good chip, but now that NDA is up the truth is being exposed. Cue GamersNexus latest video and JayzTwoCents video...
  11. AMD - 90% of Intel Performance for 40% of the Price

If you go by price, then it would be the 7700K. It is definitely overall a better cpu for production type workloads that can leverage the extra cores...but for the use most 'enthusiasts' are going to use it...gaming...it is not really a better value. From a server standpoint though...the 1700...
  12. AMD - 90% of Intel Performance for 40% of the Price

I say they are good cpus because while they lag behind in gaming, they are competitive in all other categories that utilize all their cores. Also, I was saying that the 6/12 architecture of Broadwell-E 6800K does not make the Intel chip a lesser value even though it has less cores and threads...
  13. AMD - 90% of Intel Performance for 40% of the Price

Lol...the 1700 and 1700X are only $20 bucks cheaper than their intel counterparts. The number of cores is irrelevant. It's the performance in the end that matters most. Guess people are being 'encouraged' some how or another to regurgitate the 6900Ks price compared to the 1800X. These cpus...
  14. What will you do with money left over from upgrading to RYZEN?

Good deal. Of course these Ryzen chips do offer some value...I was just having some fun with how over blown some were making the savings out to be. Why do you need two 1080s? Cuda acceleration?
  15. What will you do with money left over from upgrading to RYZEN?

The number of people in this thread considering a 6900K = 0 You are not saving much money with a 1700X vs a 6800K or a 1700 vs a 7700K.. The Asus Crosshair VI costs more than it's Z270 counter part...so in the end you end up spending the same.
  16. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Lol....You are grasping at straws with this, and so is he. Given the reviewer I am not overly surprised. Ryzen is the better overall cpu and does good for gaming, but mainstream gaming wise the 7700K is better. AMD whooped intel's butt in the HEDT with this chip, but they did not do any...
  17. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I would definitely trust GamersNexus's results more than Joker Productions as GN showed the clear gaming leader was the 7700K in all situations over the 1800X (that is not because I own a 7700K...just GN is more well respected in regards to testing methodology). However, GN's 1700 review is due...
  18. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I don't think so. They appear to be the same. It's just with the 1700 you may get a dud that only goes to max 3.7ghz on one core and may do less with SMT. I need to see more reviews to compare, but the 1700 is the 1700X and 1800X slayer. Looks like AMD may have cut their own throats lol...
  19. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Well done AMD. From the GamersNexus review it appears the 1800X won't overclock very well since it runs hot and 3.7ghz is the XFR for SMT when all cores are active...but it manages to keep up with the 6900K very well regardless. And, the result I was most interested in was with manual...
  20. Coffelake Thread : Rumors, and Specs

Oh, dang. My bad lol. I was trying to clean up the post and not make it so long and obviously goofed up on that.
  21. Coffelake Thread : Rumors, and Specs

Maybe I have my information wrong then. I am not above making an honest mistake. How old is Nehalem? I heard it being discussed and they said it was basically 10 year old architecture and that is the architecture Intel is still using. Not that Intel has not made improvements on it...just the...
  22. Coffelake Thread : Rumors, and Specs

So, AMD has had a once in a decade IPC improvement and caught up to 10 year old Intel architecture and all of a sudden Intel is doomed. When Intel releases Skylake X this year and Cannonlake next year....let's see what happens. Plus, everyone hating on Intel for not making IPC improvements...
  23. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

They are testing at the resolutions their readers most likely are using. Here in the states that won't be the case. You can clearly see as the resolution goes up the gap gets closer. At 1440p and 4K the gap will likely be even less.
  24. Coffelake Thread : Rumors, and Specs

If performance is better overall, the number cores is irrelevant. And, I don't see Intel changing sockets for Z370. It is still a 14nm part and part of the Skylake optimization path. Only Cannonlake at 10nm should require a new socket.
  25. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I see. I guess there was a mix up then with AMD's event today. It was reported that the embargo was going to be lifted today coinciding with their event. Regardless, good thing it is March 2 then so board partners could get the bios updates out to fix the memory issues. That is all it...
  26. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Or, due to the bios issues they had to push the embargo date back 2 days so board partners could get out bios updates to fix the memory problems so the press could do a proper review. AMD has allot at stake with this launch. They can't afford poor reviews. I don't think it was a rumor...
  27. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I imagine all the boards needed was a bios update to get the memory stuff worked out. The tech YouTuber Steven Walton of Hardware Unboxed said explicitly he was having trouble with the memory on his Crosshair board.
  28. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I thought the review embargo was up today. Has that changed to March 2?
  29. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

This is what I am curious about if that is accurate. You would think that the ghz achieved MT would be the same as ST. MT performance is good regardless, but that is rather curious.
  30. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

So the clocks go down as the number of cores used goes up?
  31. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

If you can get 4ghz on air with a 1700...why in the world by an 1800X? I'll wait for something more reliable than WCCFFAKE lol....If so though, that is really good. I just don't understand the marketing strategy.
  32. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Well, all the tests so far have been done stock vs stock where AMD appears to have the advantage. If Ryzen chips don't turbo as well as some are saying and overclock poorly...then in the end Intel may still likely have the 'performance' crown as their chips overclock well and very few people...
  33. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Actually...Linus mis-spoke on that. The chip AMD was showcasing during all the pre-launch events was the 1700X...not the 1700. And, in the video you are talking about if you look at the cpu code you see F4_40/36_Y...meaning 3.6ghz base clock and up to 4ghz boost....which is the 1800X...
  34. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Do you know this for sure? I only ask because all the tests done comparing Ryzen to their Intel counterparts were done at stock speeds with no turbo and a Ryzen chip turbo'd up to its max speed has not been shown to my knowledge. Intel's chips turbo by default and don't require any special...
  35. Intel Allegedly Playing Dirty To Undercut AMD’s Ryzen

^^^^^^^^^This here is my point. Intel has been guilty of shady things in the past, so all that has to happen is plant the seed in people's mind that they are doing it again. Didn't you guys watch Inception? Talk about mind control and being under the click bait spell. You guys are addicted lol.
  36. Intel Allegedly Playing Dirty To Undercut AMD’s Ryzen

Nice try. Reports of Intel doing this have been shot down...just like the supposed panic price drop that was reported by sites that was only an in store sale by Micro Center. Posting articles and stories that invoke thought are fine...but agenda driven BS needs to be called out for what it is...
  37. Intel Allegedly Playing Dirty To Undercut AMD’s Ryzen

TechPowerUp...Tweak Town (the site you can't visit without 100 pop up ads)...and Guru 3D...all front page news. As stated.....putting ????????? and allegedly does not get you off the hook. If you post a front page news story that has not been fact checked and verified...then you have entered...
  38. Intel Allegedly Playing Dirty To Undercut AMD’s Ryzen

If you think making money via clickbait is an excuse to report news that has not been fact checked, then you are part of the reason it has gotten worse of late.
