Trying to decide between Aspire 5 models

Thanks for your help. I ultimately decided to try a Lenovo i3 laptop from Walmart for 279. I figured I could try it and take it back if it didn't work out and move up to a Ryzen 5.

Skyrim or Elder Scrolls Online?

Definitely Skyrim. If you want to play an MMO I'd suggest FFXIV. ESO is simply not good.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium (Lifetime License) for $14.99 - sold by Amazon Dig

Everything I've seen seems to indicate that Vipre is for the lifetime of that PC. Secondly, I can't really find anyone on the internet who actually recommends it. Finally, I really have no idea what your post is doing in this thread. That product is in no way a substitute for Malwarebytes.

Blizzard trying an FPS game; Overwatch

That's kind of my thoughts, it just isn't really a genre I've ever enjoyed for more than a few hours. I do think it's a bit absurd to think TF2 can't be improved upon. If there's one thing Blizzard consistently does better than anyone else it's fluid gameplay.

Best PC Games (2013 - 2014)

Best MMO for me has been FFXIV. It's very good. Looking through these responses one thing really stands out. 2014 has been a horrible year for games overall. No wonder I've actually made a real dent in my Steam backlog for the first time in years.

I've preordered and I'm cautiously optimistic. It isn't like there are a lot of companies cranking out high quality RPGs right now. Also I think you guys are way more critical than I am. I was disappointed in DA2, ME3 and SWTOR but I enjoyed each game to varying degrees and I would classify them...

Dragon Age: Origins free on Origin

I'm pretty sure they are trying to drum up more interest for Inquisition next month. Awakening is pretty good value for a DLC, but if you are at all interested in that you should just get the Ultimate edition on Steam. With a new game coming out I'm sure it will go on sale soon.

Pick a game, any game, for me to play

Dragon Age: Origins is free on Origin right now so you can always pick that up as well. Can't go wrong with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. though, it may have the best atmosphere of any game I've ever played.

Help pe choose my new TV

I would guess you'll get a little more TV for the money from Phillips/Sharp/LG. I would just get the cheapest 40-42" 1080p 120Hz one out of that group I could find. I'm sure the sound will still suck, try to find a cheap sound bar when you can.

Loudness I guess? I have the Pioneer speakers with a low end Yamaha receiver. They do require more power than some other speakers I've had, but for me they get plenty loud without driving the receiver too hard. When I listened to the Pioneers beside the Polks and Klipschs they had in Best Buy...

Purchased Guild Wars 2, couldn't get into it. Is Rift worth a shot?

I lasted slightly longer in Rift than I did in GW2 but I didn't think much of either of them. I thought I was just done with MMOs but I actually quite liked the reboot of FFXIV and played that for a few months.

Best noise canceling headphones for travel?

Yeah Bose are the best, and I'm a Bose hater. However, they make great noise cancellation and tiny speakers. Just don't buy anything else from them.

What phone do you have?

Verizon GS4. Overall I'm happy with it. Trying to use the screen in bright sunlight is definitely an adventure but I knew that going in. Other than that I guess the reception on it could be better. It isn't bad but I think some other phones do better, especially Motorola...actually I think...

They replaced it in my local Verizon store no questions asked (11 days after purchase). The local rep had to call someone before he could do that, and apparently that guy had heard about it happening enough to immediately recommend replacing it as soon as he heard it had a line down the screen...

Screen on my S4 just "rewarded" me with a giant vertical glowing lime green line going the whole length of the screen while I was just reading an article. I've had it 10 days. I hope it's just an isolated case.

As long as the camera is usable I'd trade a lot to get a TFT LCD screen (love my GS4 so far except for the screen obviously). Unfortunately I have to use Verizon (work takes me through rural areas frequently) so this will probably be out around Christmas.

Pretty close actually. This notebook is almost 2 years old. Unless it has an amazing screen or something other than "under the hood" hardware that makes it desirable I think $699 is a bit steep.

Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth $15. It's a TON of content. Also, love the Steam sales...tis the season that I buy enough games for a whole year.

Yeah I went with a Samsung because of the supported formats, most notably .avi. However, I'd definitely get one with wifi, it usually doesn't cost much more.
