  1. CPU-Z v1.74 - MultiThread CPU Benchmark

My 4930K at 4500Mhz, but the voltage reading is just a bit off as it's at 1.35v. image sharing sites
  2. Noctua NF-A15 Fan on Fractal R5 Case?

I have used NF-A15s in my R5 case, both in the rear and side without much issue. The one issue that did pop up is that if you install it the wrong way, the extra length on the one side interferes (pushes right up against it so it doesn't move) with the locking mechanism on the right side panel.
  3. Assassin's Creed Unity Game Code

I just upgraded some components in my system, one of them being a Samsung 850 Pro to replace my cheap Corsair Force GS SSD. It came with a code for a free copy of the game, but I've already had it gifted to me for Christmas. The first person to PM me can have it if anyone's interested...
  4. AMD Working on "Dynamic Frame Rate Control" Feature

John (japamd) doesn't work for AMD, he's currently working for Raptr. I'm not sure exactly how close the two teams are, but there is nothing to suggest he is actively working on the actual drivers. However, given the popularity of RadeonPro AMD would have to be several kinds of stupid not to...
  5. R9 290 vapor x downclocking by itself in certain games

Due to Powertune, it will down clock if the scene it's rendering doesn't fully stress the card. This is most noticeable when using V-sync, but can also happen due engine frame rate limits or a non-GPU bottleneck. You can use a third party tool like afterburner or Trixx to force full speed all...
  6. What is your Myers-Briggs score?

Another INTJ here at 89/38/50/33. It was a bit unnerving just how much the INTJ description actually read like a first hand encounter.
  7. 4790k - getting 30-40c less in Aida64 than P95

I believe it's only with Haswell that Intel started doing the automatic 100mV jump for AVX/2 loads. My IB-E or my IB based laptop don't have the automatic jump so I'm assuming the desktop IB also doesn't overvolt.
  8. 4790k - getting 30-40c less in Aida64 than P95

Use the FPU test in AIDA to push the CPU and it should be much closer to what Prime95 shows. The normal CPU test isn't all that intensive, as you've found out.
  9. Socket 2011 Longevity

That's my take. If it required a new mounting system, we would have heard about new products and upgrade kits from cooler manufactures by now.
  10. Post your Fritz Chess Benchmark Results

Many thanks to both YBS1 and Burpo for pointing me to the newest version. Here is my 4930K at 4500MHz, and the extra 4 threads made quite a difference.
  11. Post your Fritz Chess Benchmark Results

As far as I can find, the 4.2 version I have is the latest. I've run the program as Administrator and with various compatibility modes but it does not budge. I can manually type in 12 threads, but it'll pop up an error before running on 8 threads.
  12. Debate in Texas could lead to national reform over higher education

There are some members of the Board of Education that pushed for Intelligent Design to be taught. So far it's failed, but I don't see them stopping as Texas Republicans seem hell bent on pushing political ideology into the classroom.
  13. Post your Fritz Chess Benchmark Results

I'm surprised people still use this considering how old it is. I just happened to have it because I'm a bit of a digital hoarder so it was still sitting on my external HDD. Here's what my 4930K got when I tested it at 4.5GHz with 16 GB of 1866Mhz R.A.M. at 9-10-9-28 timings.
  14. [Quiz] Are you a fascist?

The left hand comment is referring to the Nazi salute where you walk with your right hand up. I got a 2.5333 which seems inline with what I already knew of myself.
  15. AMD to port Mantle to Linux (PC World)

Delayed into 2015 due to ongoing work on their game pad.
  16. Unigine Valley 1.0 Benchmark Thread ** Post your scores**

Just swapped out my crappy reference R9 290 (couldn't reliably get past 1075 even w/ 100mv) with a Vapor X. I put the clocks at 1125/1450 with 100mv as a starting point and ended up with this. I can't wait to push this card when I get some more time.
  17. New Wolfenstein coming out Q4 2013

This one is only singleplayer. I'm hoping the fact that were able to focus on just one game type means they'll actually give us something worth the Wolfenstein nam, and not the bland crap we got with the last one.
  18. HWmonitor only displaying 3 core temps and they look wrong

I'm guessing either a mislabeling of the sensors by HWMonitor or a bug. Try using HWInfo64 and see if it reads correct. It is also a more comprehensive monitoring program. http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php
  19. (AT) AMD Mantle Developer Private Beta Begins

It seems I mis-interpreted a benchmarkreview.com headline and Microsoft is still silent on that front. I'l like to think with the new leadership in place and competition from Mantle that they'd open it up to wider audience instead of trying to move OS licenses, but time will only tell.
  20. (AT) AMD Mantle Developer Private Beta Begins

D3D 12 will be available on Windows 7 and up. As for the Mantle Beta, hopefully people will stop repeating the foolish notion that developers are only interested in Mantle if AMD pays them.
  21. Have you ever damaged a CPU from overclocking

The only time I've ever managed to damaged a CPU was when I chipped the core on a K7 Athlon trying to put on an aftermarket cooler. Iv'e never damaged one just by raising the voltage and clockspeed.
  22. Core i5 750 3.85ghz + H100i issue

I don't have access to my manual so I'm not completely sure which one is for which, I'm just trying figure out why you're having so much trouble with yours when the 3 that I've installed for myself and others have been trouble free.
  23. Core i5 750 3.85ghz + H100i issue

Are you sure you're using the right standoffs? The H100i comes with two sets, one for s2011 and another for everything else. If I'm remembering correctly they're slightly different heights so you may be using the taller ones that prevent a solid seating.
  24. 1080p @ 120Hz VS 1440p @ 60Hz

I have to second this. Mine will game at 96Hz, but I can'te leave it there for desktop use as I get slight image retention. Still a hell of a deal for $300.
  25. *NEW UPDATED* Post Your Cinebench R11.5 Score

I see my old 4.4Ghz score listed, but I've gotten it up to 4.6Ghz now. I did a run at 4646Mhz, but it wasn't completely stable so I backed down a little.
  26. The AMD Mantle Thread

Most likely due to the fact that Nvidia cards do things differently than GCN, Mantle's target platform, so they would have to have their driver intercept calls and make it into something that works on their architecture. That would add additonal overhead that, depending on specific...
  27. The AMD Mantle Thread

Maybe if AMD became a top "sponsor", but I would think that they would like to stick with vendor agnostic APIs for comparability reasons. There was more than a little moaning when they used PhysX for 3DMark 06 and Vantage and I doubt they'd want to go through all of that again.
  28. A new CPU Benchmark: Multi Threaded PI @ LINPACK

    Core i7 4930K @ 4500MHz
  29. PS4 & XBox One versions of Tomb Raider get TressFX

I would bet that some, if not most, of the improvements came from their work on the sequel and were added to the PS4 and Xbox One versions to help differentiate if from the PS3/X360 versions in an effort to convince owners of the current version to purchase it again. I'm just wondering if...
  30. The AMD Mantle Thread

No and no. Graphics adapters have been using memory, both internally as cache and on board, since the mid 80s. And nVidia was not first with multi-gpu, that would be 3Dfx. ATI also used multi-gpus back in the late 90s with their Rage Fury MAXX cards long before nVidia ever had dual GPU support.
  31. PS4 & XBox One versions of Tomb Raider get TressFX

Most likely. AMD introduced TressFX 2.0(a bit more efficient so it can be used on more objects like fur and grass) at the APU event, but with everyone so focused on any kind of Mantle information it got a bit overlooked. They released a small demo with some documentation for anyone who's...
  32. AMD Catalyst™ 13.11 WHQL for R9 290 series

You're going to want to use the 9.5 betas instead. These are an older build that is missing a lot of the performance tweaks that have been added since Hawaii's release.
  33. Considering a qnix QX2710 matte

A bit of a necro, but I just got my Qinx in and I absolutely love it. There's a bit of BLB on the bottom corners, but not enough to hamper my enjoyment when using it. The included mount also sucks, but the increased resolution and better colors from my old 1200p TN monitor more than makes up...
  34. AMD 290 still throttling even with low temps?

GPU usage doesn't work correctly with Hawaii. It'll continuously bounce from 0% to 100% no matter how much of a load you're putting on it. According to Unwinder it's something that AMD will have to fix within their drivers. Silverforce11's answer is most likely the correct one. If the load...
  35. Unigine Valley 1.0 Benchmark Thread ** Post your scores**

If I remember correctly, Afterburner reports the actual voltage and not the target. So you will see varying voltage at different GPU loads, like vDroop on CPUs.
  36. Unigine Valley 1.0 Benchmark Thread ** Post your scores**

No. Hawaii doesn't throttle until you hit the temperature limit. Not before, but right then.
  37. Custom R9 290X

After looking at what Tom's said when they put a custom cooler from a 280X on the 290, it does look like there are a lot of benefits to be had. Not enough to make me wait, but still should be significant.
  38. [H|ocp & HW360] R9-290 can be unlocked to 290X

Only on some. It kinda looks like they took a lot of GPUs that were validated for the 290X and quickly turned them into 290s, maybe in effort to meet the initial demand? Outside of that lot it looks like they're using the same laser fusing technique they had on Tahiti.
  39. How is intel's sandforce reliability ?

I don't have a Sandforce based Intel drive, but my Corsair with the same controller has been doing great. And considering Intel has custom firmware that goes through more validation than any other Sandforce customer I wouldn't have any concerns with using one.
