I only see good news. When did I become accustom to paying 3-400 for a home PC processor. Personally Im rooting for AMD to compete just to drive down Intel pricess, which I actually buy at this point.

i7 2600K + gtx570 SLI PSU

I have a hx850w and am building the same setup. It will work because I've read benchmarks that show a total system wattage of under 700w. I would be careful of running extreme load test though and might even back off the CPU overclock a little. You also have to take psu degradation into account...

Sandy Bridge and 16 total PCI-E lanes. Is this going to be a problem?

... With a good board (nf200 chip) it can still run dual x16 and scale at 90%. (see hothardeware.com?) 16 lanes or not, that's impressive. Won't be future proof but with pcie 3.0 coming, nothing is right?

I7950 or Sandybridge Core i7-2600K?

Here's how I see it: Right now I have a case and PSU (Corsair hx850). I definitely want 2 GPUs (gtx 570 sli or hd 6950 cf) so I MUST HAVE full SLI/CF (thats at least 2 x PCI-E 2.0 x16). Absolutely no 16x +8x crap. If Motherboard manufactures continue as they have with lga 1156 and lga 1155...
