  2. Did you guys miss the release of GNOME 3.0?

Been a long time KDE user (from '99-'07). Then used gnome2 untill a month ago. Switched back to KDE 'cause Gnome3 is just the opposite of what I want from a DE. I really wish them the best of luck in future development - I've followed G3 dev for more than a year now, I had high hopes that it...
  3. 8.8 Earthquake hits Japan

Damn, I was in a city that was struck by a 5.4 magnitude quake last November and we had severe structural damages on most of the buildings in town (and quake only lasted 30sec). I live on 11th floor skyscraper and that was no fun at all. I can only imagine how that 8.9 monster was felt in Japan...
  4. Strange issues with Asus P8P67 Pro

If this is indeed the culprit of the problem than it's a BIOS bug. Before doing that it would be intresting to switch off the power supply, wait a minute, switch it back on and then press the power button to see if cold boot this time works.
  5. H67 Motherboard

I have a GA-H67MA-UD2H - zero issues so far. PCH is close to my dual slot GTX460 and heats up pretty much during gaming sessions (50C) but other than that - I can't think of any problems. Even with that temperature - computer is running rock solid stable.
  6. C2D 2.2GHz needs overvolting every month

I've measured the voltages while running 3DMark, there werent any major fluctuations and voltages were well within specs, so I guess it's not the PSU problem. I've visually checked the caps and they look good but still that doesn't rule out the mb. If the problem persist I'll try to find a...
  7. C2D 2.2GHz needs overvolting every month

A month ago my cousin brought his rig because it was constantly restarting or giving him BSOD. It took me 3-4 hrs to find a "solution" and it was increasing vcore from default voltage to 1.35V. CPU runs at stock speeds but with default voltage it couldnt boot Windows nor I could install a...
  8. P67 problem recognizing hard drive

If it's initialized and partitioned - formated propperly you maybe just need to assign a drive letter for the partition from disk management.
  9. Voltage readings with IT8728F

Thanx for your reply Mumak. I still have the same problem with the latest beta (3.69-1149). I've just measured voltages with multimeter and it reads: 12V (mm: 12.44 ; hwinfo: 12.270) 3.3V (mm: 3.36 ; hwinfo: 2.493) I've sent you an email with log/debug info and any other info that I...
  10. Asus p67 Pro. Getting +5V Warning from AI Suite

Yeah, I get incorrect readings on 3.3V line (2.45V readout) on my board, but I'm not worried much :\ As soon as I get my hands on a multimeter, I'll check it out, thanx for the link BoomerD
  11. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

@Anomaly and Edrick http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1241ow5ief2yskzip From Feb 01 ? Hm, I wonder if Aida interprets this correctly at all, when I go to Device Manager -> System Devices -> Intel 6 Series / C200 blah blah PCI-e Root Port -> Properties - Details -...
  12. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

  13. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

Please click on the SouthBridge in Device Description, that's CPU you got there :) /edit: Try with the latest beta on their web site... @Hogan773 Well there is already two of us, Asus P67 Pro also with the Rev. A (if you look at the voters profile, that's why I made this vote public).
  14. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

OK, I've created a poll so we can see what percentage of motherboards out there are affected (if there is any truth behind the statement that Rev.B PCH is the only one affected by this flaw).
  15. Which P67/H67 chipset revision you got with your SB MB ?

Title says it all. Scrot from AIDA64: /edit: Oh, and screenshots as well as model of the mainboard would be a great info.
  16. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

Well I guess not :) H67MA-UD2H was one of the first boards of the whole bunch to see the light of day, they were among the first to sell in Taiwan way before SB was actually available and NDA was lifted.
  17. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

Well, if the bug only applies to B revision of chipset - I guess I'm not affected :D
  18. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

Well that's not good, and if this is really connected to the design flaw then 6Gbps ports are also affected :( Oh and there should be a power_on_hours mark when the CRC error occured in the logs.
  19. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

Does anyone really have issues with Cougar Point ? My SMART logs are ok, UDMA CRC Error Count - 0 I do see however somewhat reduced performance with benchmarks (not to be worried though), HDTune gives me strange drops but I'm not sure that it's the PCH fault. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  20. Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H: 2x PCIe 16x or 2x PCIe 8x?

That isn't very clear at the moment but AFAIK no, only supported mode is x16/x4 not x8/x8 as many reviewers thought.
  21. Can you use onboard intel graphics with a PCI-e video card installed?

Yep, you can switch between the two and even disable the one you don't use at the moment. Works for me on the board in my sig.
  22. Can you use onboard intel graphics with a PCI-e video card installed?

On H67 and Sandy Bridge you can have both integrated and PEG working at the same time. One will be primary for Desktop1 and second for extended Desktop2 ie. All you have to do is to select in BIOS - Onboard video - always and even though PEG is installed, HD2000/HD3000 will work also.
  23. I should have waited on Sandy Bridge

Only "problem" I have on my board for now is incorrect reading on 3.3V from hwinfo32 (and the rest of the sensor monitor sw out there do the same). If someone is willing to confirm this happens on their boards also (Gigabyte P67/H67 lineup). Thanx :) I had certain problems after BIOS update...
  24. My first/Your first server

My first server was samba file/printer/gateway on Mandrake 9.0.
  25. Voltage readings with IT8728F

I've tried a bunch of utilities for hardware monitoring and none so far was even close of reading voltages correctly. I'm not talking about +/- 0.1V, I'm talking about 4.2V where 12V should be :) HWINFO32 is the closest of them all but misses 3.3V (it shows 2.4V), while other readings are...
  26. P67A-UD3 Problems (Update: Problem with PS not mobo)

I had the same trouble with my board (in sig). Flashed the BIOS to F6 with @BIOS software, loaded setup defaults, tried to make onboard video primary - no go, it always boots with PEG as primary. And after a few restarts, when I've tried to enter BIOS settings, it showed BIOS menu but keyboard...

  28. H67 or P67

    Yes you would.
  29. Gigabyte H67 + 2600K = integrated graphics fail

You have to flash from Windows with @BIOS (or you could try flashspi utility from DOS), QFlash won't update from F3 -> F6. The future upgrades could be done from Qflash however (I suppose). Anyways, GA have dual BIOS, so It shouldn't be a problem to restore the old one in case something goes...
  30. Who has the best quality?

It seems that every OEM I'm using for my mainboards are vanishing from the face of the earth, chipset makers also. Chaintech - 5AGM2 - they are dead now. Motherboard (chipset actually, VIA MVP3) was terrible. Epox - 8RDA+ (nVIDIA nForce2) - also dead, great motherboard however. Now I'm...
  31. GTX 560 Ti Leaked Benchmarks/Info Thread

Marketshare ? :D Damn, I hate to use that word, my personal opinion is that Linux is the best operating system there is, but marketshare proves that it isn't mainstream, isnt it ? And I'm no factory worker... :P
  32. GTX 560 Ti Leaked Benchmarks/Info Thread

Definition of mainstream shouldn't be an individual opinion - mainstream is what sells the most. GTX460/HD6850/HD6870 are mainstream and people want best bang for the buck but limited to a certain price mark (170-230$). AMD and nVIDIA would want to bump this price mark to 250$ or even higher...
  33. GTX 560 Ti Leaked Benchmarks/Info Thread

I meant on reference cards that will surely first hit the market. But if by "company" you were reffering to nVIDIA then maybe we will see 2GB refference cards from the very start.
  34. GTX 560 Ti Leaked Benchmarks/Info Thread

Who knows how they'll brand it this time. I really don't buy that 2GB story at all, lil' over a week left 'till release so we will know for sure. If I'm wrong however, GTX 560 Ti 2GB GTX 560 1GB GTX 560 SE 1GB I don't really think that they will change anything on GTX 570/580, there...

  37. Are Intel Branded Boards any good?

Yep, it's highly unlikely for a socket to burn like that unless it's extremely o/c-ed, and pumping so much voltage into cpu can easily kill the cpu rather than burn the socket. Eitherway, this guy got his for review already damaged...
  38. Are Intel Branded Boards any good?

Yeah, especially if rumors of burnt foxconn 1155 sockets are true... History repeats itself... Funny thing is, most of the high end mb models use them, bunch of them with 1156 sockets switched to LOTES after the fiasco in their next mb revisions.
