    PS4 will only have enough graphics power to push 1080 games. it may be able to do 4k video and images but it wont do 4k gaming. 'It may be overkill, but that's not a bad thing'. If 4GB of DDR5 sits in the console unused for its life then its wasted cost and expense.

    I doubt the PS4 will be easier to dev for than the nextbox, microsoft own at development tools. If the rumours are correct the ps4 will have the edge in terms of hardware. Microsoft could choose to launch at half the cost of the PS4 tho.

    Canon (not Cannon lol) are no better or worse to learn on than any other fully featured camera. Some make it more difficult , some make it easier. I feel canon menu systems are simpler to use than nikons but this is more on the pro models than the entry stuff anyhow.

    What I meant with live view is use it as an objective test on a static subject, use a tripod, use live view 10* and manual focus, 10 second timer, see how sharp the picture is. Then repeat with normal autofocus and compare. If you can use live view to shoot birds your a better tog than I.

    Sorry havnt read all the thread, just the first few and the 400/5.6L should be working better than that, looks like either a focus or shutter speed issue (which is related to long lens technique). Using a 400mm lens on a crop body requires a high shutter speed not only to kill camera movement...

    yes, so you get two 'views' A pixel level view - which if your pixels are 1/4 the size of the other camera its no use. And a full frame view, which is normalised for print size for noise and dynamic range, this is much better but still ignores the extra detail you would get with more resolution.

    The D3000 can AF at -3EV? no , no it cant. It seems the off centre points are pretty good can can focus in conditions about the same as the 5d2 centre point. The centre cross point can focus in conditions where you cant even see the target.

    DXO mark is an interesting way of comparing some sensor information if you normalise for print size. Its in no way shape or form a way of choosing a camera. A camera is a lot more than just the sensor.

    Hmm I see the 5d2 at least a stop better than the d7000 there (comparing 5d2 ISo 3200 to 7000 ISO 1600, 5d2 is better, but d7000 is better at 800), pentax k5 has obvious NR happening before the raw output.

D7000 is about 50% quantum efficient, an FX sensor has 2.5 times the area, so crop sensors will never catch fx ones if the tech remains as it is...

    Overall I prefer the 7d's viewfinder ( 100% view, transmissive LCD etc) over the 5d2's viewfinder (98% view) even though there is more 'area' on the 5d2.
