750 to spend, what should I do?

Was hoping the CPU isn't the choke point in this system. The testers all use the i7 for a reason... Plus, I would have to reload windows for a new mobo. Thnks

R7870 Hawk, should I go crossfire?

I have a fairly mild gamer setup: 256 gig SSD, AMD Black 965, Gigabyte Motherboard, 8 gig of ram, and the R7870 Hawk video card. I was wondering if it would make the most sense to buy a second used 7870 series card (I cannot find another Hawk) and go crossfire, or should I just buy a new card...

A little more than a mid-level rig?

Well said. I am thinking that, since I already have a 128 gig SSD, I will just go with that and the HDD I currently use, keep my case, and just update the mobo cpu, ram and video card. I can always add another card next summer.

The video card is a bit overpriced, eh? The other prices can fluctuate daily... With two sticks of memory instead of one, (and keeping the case I want and deleting your PS choice) it comes to 1114. Not bad.

well it looks like the xfx is now down to 168 after rebate from the egg...and a Phenom II 970 black can be got for 149...everything else seems to be a good match. Might just be trigger pulling time...

Well heat is not an issue, as I run the case wide open--as in the mobo side of the case is not covered at all. Lots of people recommend going with a card off of CL but man I hate buying electronics that way. Sounds like the best idea would be to wait until the 5870 drops to my price point...

When I look at the video card reviews on THF, it shows the 5870 is actually slower than the 4870 in some specs...and when I look up prices I see that the 4870 (when you can find it) is at the 150$ price point still. But where do I find any kind of review on what gains you get when you crossfire...
