Thanks for the link , Did you update Deskstar's firmware to latest ? I havent checked the Adaptec Website for Harddrive support , but I am assuming this drive should be mentioned in their compatible list of drives. I am inclined on buying these or new 3Tb for another server build.

The max on Dell perc6i , i believe would be 512K , and minimum is as low as 8k . and i think 64-128k would be decent.

Mark ,What exact numbers are you looking at to determine performance...with all these benchmarks i need to know what exactly to look for as benchmark , and is it normal for write speeds to be this low as 103MB/s ( is there any formula ..) I heard alot about Raid allignment , how would that work ?
