Beginner's Studio Equipment and Lighting Questions

I'm certainly no expert, but the lighting for my close-up of hardware for reviews is provided by desk lamps from Walmart and 6500K CFL bulbs diffused with a single sheet of white tissue paper. Total price, about $18. Couldn't ask for a better solution.

That waiting game we all do...

Computers are like everything else. The release date for the new one is about two months after you spent all of your money on the current one which will be worthless in one month because everyone will be waiting for the new one next month. That's why future proofing in an oxymoron.

Well, that explains a lot.

I always install the heatsink before the board goes into the case. Sometimes those plastic pins look like they're pushed all the way in but they aren't locked. It can take a good bit of pressure to snap them into place. Pull on the heatsink firmly to ensure that it is locked to the board.

Do any of you run your own IT company?

I owned and operated an ISP back in the day when dial-up was the best we could hope for. Come to think of it, dial-up is still the best they have in that area. Gave it up after three long years. Now I run a technology website. Does that count? :cool:

Where are the low profile 6670's?

You could always pair the HD 6570 with an A8-3580 APU and have yourself an HD 6630D2. Probably as close as your going to get to a low-profile HD 6670.

Mini ITX mobo for amd phenom x6 125 tdp

The Zotac is an option if you don't need dedicated graphics. If you are planning on adding a video card, the MINIX 890GX-USB3 is your only option with 125w CPU support and it can be difficult to find. There's some more information on it here...

Are Intel Branded Boards any good?

I don't know about the P67 boards, but at least one of the new H67 Intel boards is apparently made by Foxconn. The Intel DH67CF has the Foxconn logo plastered all over it. I'm not complaining, it's running great so far.
