  1. Ubiquiti Network Upgrade

Just finished installing the Cloud Key, Security Device, 16 port PoE switch and a pair of APs. Everything works fantastically. Only configuration necessary was turning on the 24v passive PoE, as the AP Lites don't use the new protocol. Thanks for all the help!
  2. Ubiquiti Network Upgrade

Thanks for all the tips. I just pulled the trigger on a matching Ap-AC Lite, which supports the fast roaming. Reading the documentation, it doesn't mention a specific controller requirement, only that they're always on. Is the preferred controller their Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway (USG) or...
  3. Ubiquiti Network Upgrade

@sdifox, very interesting. Do you happen to have any links to the documentation for that system? I'm very interested.
  4. Ubiquiti Network Upgrade

@sdifox, could you give me a little more information about how that would work?
  5. Ubiquiti Network Upgrade

@razel, exactly, thank for the vote of confidence. The wired devices are crushing it, it's the wireless devices, especially when moving from one end to the other, that really get bad quality. Almost like the other AP doesn't pick them up.
  6. Ubiquiti Network Upgrade

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could help me assess my SMB network that I have at my office. The office itself is long and skinny, about 70' long, 25' wide. The server cabinet is at one end of the structure and there is a cable run to the opposite side. Currently, I have a mix of routers, APs...
  7. HP Spectre 13.3 (2016) USB-C Adapter

Such bullshit. HP just informed me that their replacement AC adapters will not be available until 9/20. Can't get a docking station to work either.
  8. HP Spectre 13.3 (2016) USB-C Adapter

Hey friends, I was wondering if anyone had successfully used ANY USB-C adapter to power the new 2016 HP Spectre 13.3 laptop? I have tried: Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 45W Laptop Adapter dodocool USB C Charger, 30W USB Type-C MINIX NEO C, USB-C Multiport Adapter with HDMI (USB hub works...

  10. ATI FirePro 2460 + 3x DVI Monitors

Hey guys, I have three Dell 2007WFP monitors. Currently, I'm driving them with an AMD Radeon HD 5450 and the onboard Intel HD3000. Photoshop CS6 is bitching about having mis-matched video cards, blah blah blah. I'd like to bump my performance up a little and drive the monitors with a...
  11. Haswell/Iris Pro and Three Monitors

@Lonyo, That's exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks for the link, seems like the DP Hub is the way to go. Could even use my old monitors!
  12. Haswell/Iris Pro and Three Monitors

I'm also interested from a laptop perspective. If it has an eDisplayPort, could I drive three monitors off a single port that way? My laptop is ancient and my workstation is getting up there. It would be great if I could just combine the two. From a performance perspective, I think the modern...
  13. Iris Pro 5200 and Three Monitors

Hey guys, I just read about the new Vizio laptop coming out with the fresh i7 and Iris Pro 5200 graphics. I was wondering if it would be possible to drive three external monitors using this machine. I don't do any gaming, it would strictly be for productivity work. I'm a software engineer...
  14. Haswell/Iris Pro and Three Monitors

Looking into everyone's crystal ball, do you see a single eDP port for ITX form factors?
  15. Haswell/Iris Pro and Three Monitors

That is very, very cool. 3840x2160... I mean, I'm currently running at 1680x1050! Is eDisplayPort 1.2 the specification that allows you to daisy chain the monitors together, or is that Thunderbolt only?
  16. Haswell/Iris Pro and Three Monitors

Hey guys! My workstation is getting a little long in the tooth and I'd like to upgrade to a Haswell based system in the future. My requirements are as small and quiet as possible, and I need to drive three monitors. Currently, I'm using a 2U enclosure mounted on custom rails up under my...

  18. Upgrading Wireless (Home Use)

Hey guys, Thanks for your quick replies. So would going with the Buffalo unit for my router and one of the Unifi APs be the best, most versatile solution? Thanks, E
  19. Upgrading Wireless (Home Use)

Hey guys, I'm currently rocking an older pair of Linksys WRT54G routers with DD-WRT. One of them is starting to exhibit some flukey behavior and I believe it's starting to go out. As they're only a/b/g, I would like to upgrade. So the home is a long, narrow, awkwardly shaped building with...
  20. Eclipse Workstation Build

Ha! Okay! Thanks for the guidance!
  21. Eclipse Workstation Build

Oh sorry, one other question. The first video card had 1GB of RAM, the one you directed me too has 512MB. What sort of a difference would that make? Thanks!
  22. Eclipse Workstation Build

Oh awesome! That's a great chart! Thanks for the Mobo recommendation as well! You really saved me some cash!
  23. Eclipse Workstation Build

mfenn, Thanks a ton for your comments. Unfortunately, I'm committed to the 2U case so that it will fit nicely in the 2U slot I have under my desk. About the heat sink, should I go with the stock fan, or is there a better, quieter one around? RAM - Excellent, good to know. I might just...
  24. Eclipse Workstation Build

Hey Guys! I'm looking to build a new workstation and I was hoping you could help me with some of the components I've selected. I'm a Java programmer (Android and GWT, specifically) and spend most of my day in Eclipse. I have a three monitor setup and do a little bit of Photoshop here and...
  25. DVI/DualLink/HDMI/DisplayPort

Ok great! Thanks, that certainly sounds like a very good option for my requirements. Looks like I'll be able to run three monitors out of my 2U case yet! E
  26. DVI/DualLink/HDMI/DisplayPort

NoQ, Thank you so much. This is a fantastic post and really clarifies the issue for me. As a related question, you mentioned that you could run the on-board graphics as well as a video card to get three monitors. For some reason I had thought that you could only use one or the other...
  27. DVI/DualLink/HDMI/DisplayPort

Hey guys! I was wondering if someone could help me unravel the differences between DVI, DualLink, HDMI and DisplayPort cables and ports. I'm getting ready to build a new machine and I need a card that handles three monitors. I've been looking at a number of 1/2 height cards, but am getting a...
  28. Half Height, Three Monitors

Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me pick out a video card. I'm starting to assemble all of my components for a Sandy Bridge build out this summer. My goal is to put all the components in a shorty 2U case. I've got juuuust about everything worked out, except that I need to run three...
  29. Advice for Half-Height HD/HDCP Card for HTPC

Perfect! That's for the link to guide as well. I'm not really too familiar with any sort of post processing things, so it sounds like the 5450 will be great. Thanks again!
  30. Advice for Half-Height HD/HDCP Card for HTPC

Hey guys, I've searched through the forums and have a question. I currently have an HTPC in a 2U case running Boxee. I'm using the onboard graphics card to do HD over VGA to my TV. While it works and it's ~ok, I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Will adding a dedicated card give me...
