What codec do you need to play .avi files in Windows media player 7?

I can play a divx on Mp7, but i prefer to play it on the Creative playcenter or the Xing player.

GF2MX Twinview Or ATI Radeon VE dual head help me decide.

Go with the GeForce. It's dual display is pretty much Tv-out. Ati's Dual monitor "Hydravision" is alright,but lags unbelievably in Win2k and is IMO , only useful when pumping an mpeg file out to a tv,while surfing the net on a monitor. Two monitors, will allow you to show two apps...

Where can I find the CD key in WinME?

Woodie's right , type regedit in the "Start" run , the do like he says to get to current version. If you scroll down you'll see the product key. IE... for Win98se, it's kr7qx-hbwtr-h83gf-qq2x7-pgjkg.. etc.. lol. for me it will look similar.

Help, my car is flaky

What does it mean if my oil pressure light doesn't come on? (idiot dash light won't light at startup) I mean, is it bad ? or maybe just an electrical short? Anyone ever have this happen to them? Help please.

cdrom is seen, not accessible..

Make a boot disk and boot to it. It should load the cdd driver and ID it. If it does , try reading a cd. If it reads no problem, then the error is most likely with your o/s.

how to disable acpi on asus a7v?

Go into the registry, local machine/soft/micros/windows/currentversion set a new item called acpioption, set it's value to "0". Go into safe mode blow away the enum key, and redetect hardware after a reboot.

Radeon VE dual monitor setup??

In display settings, is the other monitor enabled? There is a tab in the desktop configuration that displays the primary/secondary setup as well. It's kinda funny , because i use a black desktop background and when i enabled the second monitor(it was my tv) I couldn't tell if it was working...

Anyone ever have any success running 133 fsb on an i810 mobo?

yes, actually got a win98se install to go flawlessly , but came across a lot of random errors / lockups when running apps. I read somewhere that the p3's are incompatible with the 810 and lock anyway, so i'm probably just wasting my time trying

is your audio out to your line in on sound card? If it is and you still have no sound during recording, reinstalling your sound card drivers may fix the problem.

I've had the mfc42.dll error pop up before. I reinstalled video and tv tuner drivers (both were ati) and it corrected it.

IRQ sharing Problem (Sound Card and IDE controller on same IRQ?!)

disable both serial/com ports. This will free up irq3. then reset/update escd in the bios , and you should be good to go ;)

What's your motherboard? In the bios you're going to have choose boot sequence as "scsi" first, or it'll continue to look for a bootable partition off of your primary ide.

Geforce2mx/IRQ/Win2k Problems

If you go into device manager and choose properties for the ACPI controller, select your system as a "Standard pc" instead. Upon rebooting, ACPI will be disabled , and irq's will be allocated correctly. You will get a slight performance increase, but you will no longer have ATX...

regedit hkey local machine/software/microsoft/windows/current version create new Dword value; CacheWriteDelay, set for Decimal value of 2000 This creates a 2000 ms delay before shutdown, so hdds with large cache can fully flush before shutting down. uhuh, thankya very much
