  1. Strange Hard Drive Problem

Try erasing the drive with Active Killdisk and try again.
  2. [SOLVED]Delayed window load on P8P67 Pro

Does it happen when you boot to safe mode?
  3. Looking for WUXGA Monitor

I was almost set on the Dell, but the reviews on the ZR24W do seem more consistent, thanks.
  4. Looking for WUXGA Monitor

I'm looking for a decent 1920×1200 monitor, about $500 or less. HDCP compliant, used for gaming. I have my eyes on the Dell U2410 but would like to look at other options, or to hear the pros and cons from U2410 owners. I'm also interested in a smaller dot pitch, .27 is fine, but I prefer...
  5. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

How do you check for these kind of errors?
  6. P8P67 issues

Probably not, but hard to say what else it could be. I've never tried to read minidumps, maybe this will help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263
  7. Intel says flaw in Series 6 Sandy Bridge chipsets

Crappy news :| Since it only affects the 3Gb ports, I might be able to get by using just the 6Gb ports and the marvell ports if I have to. Would rather not go through the hassle of a recall now that I have a new system up and running.
  8. Official ASUS SSD – P8P67 Series Validation and Support – Including SATA6G SSD

    Of course, but I wasn't "bitching" :)
  9. P8P67 issues

What are your full detailed system specs? (all components)
  10. P8P67 PRO issues?

Well it was supposed to be the 1204 BIOS that fixes double POST, so not sure what's going on there. Yeah on mine it only shows those two fans also.. :\
  11. What Memory to get?

Memory speed makes a slight difference compared to CPU and GPU. Memory is relatively inexpensive now, I'd just get the 1600 at least. Check the Qualified Vendor list in your ASUS manual if you don't want to take any chances. I got this for mine, not on the QVL but don't have any issues...
  12. P8P67 PRO issues?

The dual boot issue is fixed in the latest BIOS release. You can control the fans to some degree in the ASUS AI Suite software (Fan Xpert)
  13. Official ASUS SSD – P8P67 Series Validation and Support – Including SATA6G SSD

I was just informing ASUS, and others who might run into the same problem, that the 512 allocation on HDDs is causing problems with the board, and I originally thought it was an SSD problem, but I found out it has nothing to do with the SSD. Whether 512 allocation is a good idea or not is...
  14. Issues with P8P67 Pro

That's strange, what BIOS version do you have?
  15. P8P67 issues

Do you have an older SATA HDD to use for testing? Are you able to install windows from DVD? They had the 1253 bios linked for a short time here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2136820 but they took it off when they released 1204. Might as well wait for the next BIOS update since...
  16. HD slower?

Drives vary a bit in speed, hard to say what will be faster unless you look at test results. Maybe a driver issue too. For a Mac I'd stick with Hitachi and get a 7200rpm drive.
  17. Crucial RealSSD C300 $99 on Newegg this morning

I had some stuttering until I updated the Intel AHCI drivers
  18. P8P67 issues

If temp increased after BIOS update, I'd assume they just tweaked the reading of the sensors. 50 C shouldn't be enough for overheat, but my 2600k idles at 30 C with the same board and the 1253 BIOS, and the stock cooler, according to AI Suite II. You could try one memory module at a time, and...
  19. Official ASUS SSD – P8P67 Series Validation and Support – Including SATA6G SSD

Yes, formatted in Windows Disk Management. HDD is not the boot drive, the SSD is. But I don't think it matters, even when the HDD is the only drive attached it won't get through POST (before the 2nd logo display, or info screen showing memory, SATA devices, etc, it shows a garbled mess of...
  20. Official ASUS SSD – P8P67 Series Validation and Support – Including SATA6G SSD

Yes, my C300 works fine on the 6Gb port on the Pro, it's only when an HDD was formatted with an allocation unit size of 512 bytes is when I had problems booting.
  21. P8P67 issues

Yes there was a crunching sound when I put the CPU in mine, which I thought was weird, but everything works fine. I doubt you need to return your board since it has booted. There must be some component causing problems with the BIOS/EFI, which seems to be common on these new boards.
  22. Which Motherboard?

I'd wait and get 2600k, more cost effective.
  23. Official ASUS P67/H67 BIOS Updates

ASUS: please test different allocation unit sizes on HDDs. I found out that my problem was because my system (P8P67 Pro) would not boot with allocation unit size of 512 bytes on an HDD, even if it was the only drive attached, boots fine with default allocation unit size.
  24. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

I tried something today, with some strange results. Disconnected SSD. Plugged in blank HDD with no volumes. Installed Windows on HDD Boots fine, no problems. Connected SSD Boots fine to HDD, no problems. Change boot priority to SSD. Boots, HDD visible, no problems. Delete volumes on HDD...
  25. Could this be due to a bad motherboard?

I'd reset bios to default/turn the overclocking off, remove all HDDs except your boot drive. See if it is stable then.
  26. I should have waited on Sandy Bridge

I always have problems with bleeding-edge components, I was expecting it when I bought sandy bridge components days after they became available, and sure enough I ran into problems. Same thing happened when I bought my last computer, which was right when Conroe came out. Things were mostly fixed...
  27. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

Can you summarize your theory? I was thinking of putting the SSD on one of the 3Gb ports, with no other drives attached except for the optical drive on another 3Gb port (or maybe not even that and use a flash drive to install windows). Then install Windows with SP1 slipstreamed. Then install...
  28. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

    Here's the readout on mine:
  29. Official ASUS P67/H67 BIOS Updates

Try turning off UAC and running setup as administrator, or boot into safe mode and run it. I had problems getting it to install too.
  30. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

I might just start over this weekend. Does it make any sense to killdisk the SSD before reinstalling Windows on it?
  31. Official ASUS P67/H67 BIOS Updates

I installed this and it made a major difference on my SSD. Things were sometimes jerky like wait states, but after installing that driver, everything was totally smooth and snappy.
  32. Any Asus P8P67 owners with 1253 bios having HDD problems?

Were your HDDs attached before you installed the OS? Just curious.
  33. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

When did you attach each of your HDDs, prior to installing Windows or after? Which sata ports are your SSD and HDDs plugged into? I have an external enclosure like that too, and I also can't boot with that attached, not sure what that is. Anyway, I submitted a problem report to ASUS.
  34. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

I may try the no SSD thing when I have some time. I updated my BIOS because of this problem, so I had the same problem on 3 different BIOS versions. My problem started after I re-volumed my HDD after I installed Windows. Before I installed Windows, I had both the SSD and HDD attached. The HDD...
  35. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

Here's mine, disk 0 is my system drive, and 1 is the HDD with no system on it: One thing I noticed before, when I booted with an empty HDD with no volume on it, the system SSD became Disk 1 and the HDD was Disk 0. Not sure if that means anything. When I plug in the HDD after Windows boots...
  36. Official ASUS P67/H67 BIOS Updates

That did not work for me, but my issue is slightly different. For now, I just enabled hot plug in the SATA Configuration in the BIOS, and plugged in the HDD after windows booted. Unfortunately I have to do this every time I reboot, but at least I can get to my HDD if I have to.
  37. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

This worked for me, but it is not a permanent workaround. Leave extra HDD(s) unplugged from the motherboard Enable hot plug in the BIOS: Advanced - SATA Configuration, for the SATA ports you're using for extra HDDs. Once booted into windows, plug in the HDD(s). Has to be done at every reboot...
  38. Asus P8P67 Pro can't enter BIOS, garbled screen instead

I have the exact same problem. What SSD do you have? Mine is Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB (CTFDDAC128MAG). It turns out that, if one of the other HDD drives is re-volumed and re-formatted, it will no longer boot with that HDD attached. I tried 3 different HDDs, and all had the same issue, unless...
  39. ASUS P8P67 SATA Boot Issues

I have a boot issue as well. I have an SSD boot drive, and a 2nd spindle HDD. I recreated the volume on the HDD drive and reformatted it. Ever since then the system won't boot as long as the HDD is attached, and I cannot get into BIOS settings or boot from a CD with the HDD attached. It boots...
