Yes you will have to separate. It is quite easy to do if you look at your old connector you should see small flaps on the side that you can insert a small piece in to and lift slightly and the Case wires will pull right out. There will be exposed metal on the ends. If you have an old case you...
should be able to go to computer "right click"/manage/disk management and partition it form there. Other wis do it with your hard drive manufacturers software. You should be able to download it off of their website.
Why don't you contact Seagate to see if they'll repair it? You won't know if it's RMA'able until you ask them.
I had a raptor that did the same thing, broke out the trusty JB weld and glued it on, works just fine (in case they wont).
The idea here is to have all required files allready on the internal harddrive when you power up your ThinkPad for installation, including of course a minimal system to boot up and start the installation process.
Convenient, but how do you get the files there?
* One option is to copy...
Any special acct settings for your DSL et al user name password etc? LAN connections probably should be set to automatically detect settings in automatic configeration.
Try this if not. Go to Start/run and type in ipconfig /release and hit enter or ok wait for the black box to disappear then...

Buy an adapter for the 4 pin plug 4 pin 12v<-------------4 pin molex. May be cheaper than sending that PS back to the MF. As mentioned earlier, there may be a plug missing, call the manufacturer.

If you have to ask "will it be worth it" for 10% gain, then no it wont be worth it, save your $$$ and buy a lg data drive [or just save your money]. I have mine set to 32 stripe, and have become accustomed to the small gain in performance, I don't know if it is 10-25% gain, but i am sure it is...

You may try forcing sata 150 on that drive, there should be a way to place a jumper on 2 pins to accomplish the task. Check out the MF site for details. I had to do it on a MB that didnt support SATA 2, a asrock i think.
My choice would be wired because a 1 security 2 speed 3 easiest 4 cost. Simply because you have a cat 5 cable in place [will be easy to connect the 2 pc's]. If you plan on getting a wireless device in the future you can get a wireless router, and still use the 2 pc's on a wired connection, just...
Thanks OP, bought 2 to replace my 2 36g raptor's in raid 0. I like the feel of tearing open a new anti static bag on a new hard drive [esp when it is for my rig] !!!!!!!!!!
i saw that earlier today, it sounds like a good deal to me. Has a Core 2 duo and the lenovo is reportedly unmatched for quality. Sounds like a hot deal to me. Correct me if I am wrong.
The one I am talking about is here
