Are you upgrading to Skylake?

I will not be 'upgrading' from my 4790k as I can't imagine any cause too. However, if I build an auxiliary computer for netflix/htpc/general use I will definitely be looking closely at the skylake SKUs, and if DDR4 prices are reasonable, it might be perfect for my intended use.

You may be right, but assuming all the work is done by the CPU and CPU usage is Truly 5-6% we can conclude that barring OS/background processes AMDs newest two module super chip is capable of encoding up to 20 H265 streams at once. Does this strike anyone else as absurd?

Under $400 would you choose 4690K + OC MOBO or 4790K + regular MOBO?

I went with the 4790k because I live close to a microcenter. I got my processor and motherboard for about the same price as just the processor from any other retailer.

I went from a Llano system to haswell. I know the only thing that should matter is MB, and my oem version of windows 7 ultimate validated automatically. I made this thread because I thought a motherboard swap would require a new windows key.

I'm not really sure how to do a proper game bench, and my cpu is pretty anemic. I could do stock vs. oc profiles as long as people keep in mind that my cpu is probably bottlenecking performance to some degree.
