with a friend with x58-i7 920 setup we did some tests.. which at least to my eyes seem definitely to be a problem.. even in "real" life benches/games.
The i7 at same clock should trash the Q9650.. but except the very cpu limited 3dmark 06 SM2 test(@1280x1024 resolution..), and a slight...
To begin with on my last board i had issue with the PSU. I had a 18 AWG cable on instead of a 15 AWG, then i had normal FPS in some games.
Then i was worried about the 4x/8x lanes on my old board so i try with another PSU\MB(8x\8x). I had about the same results.
I bought 2x Sapphire just to...
Cause a new thread was more appropriate to raise a issue with the PCI-E Speed test.
So we could get result from ppl all over. Also those low result related to the PCI-E doing 500~800 mb/sec could be a bottleneck for crossfire. Depending of the games tested and such. So until someone show up...
ppl with 6950 with the same 11.1a driver got 500 mb/sec & 5,000 gb/s
It's actually all mixed up result.
Also on mine i used the same driver for the 5870 & 2x 6950 ..
He got over 5000 GB/s with a 6950 Sapphire oc i7 860 ..............
Check this guys test.

So it ain't the tool.
Why would I get 5000 gb/s with a 5870 in win7 64bits and not the 6950.
When you say rock solid.. what kind of fps you getting in crysys 1920x1080 (Gamer setting,2msaa) & Mafia 2 bench (Maxed No Physx) & 3Dmark11 (performance)?
Please see: I had issue with my crossfire for 3 days now. Low FPS in games & bench.
See: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2141824 & http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=338490
I did about 10 test prior to those screenshot reinstalling drivers and such. Same result with PCI-E...
I created a new topic.. it's probably gonna get messy if it ain't a issue with the tool to test the pci-e speed and it ain't only my 2 cards\motherboard.

Hmm ok .. i noticed while wasting time testing that my PSU power cable had 18 AWG .. i decided to look in my PSU original box and there was the original cable at 15 AWG.. i tried it out for the hell of it and guess what..
Now Dirt 2 1920x1080 Everything maxed is 103 FPS.
Mafia 2 still at...
Well just tried with a Asus P7P55-E Pro.
No improvement.
Except 3dmarks11 show P 7979.
Probably due to the 8x/8x lanes.
Dirt 2: 51.6 fps & 110 fps no msaa
Mafia 2: 78.5 fps
V-Sync is OFF in CCC & games. I used default in CCC for everything.
I did all the test on a brand new Win7 64bits...
Yes i'm sure it's running at 4x GPU-Z & Hardware info in CCC show it at 4x.
I don't have any pci\pci-e cards in the other slots.
I don't think i can test at 4x on the second PCI-E. There both 16x unless you set 2 cards.. then second one end up at 4x. Don't even know if this is gonna post on...

I'm running out of ideas.. I'm getting really low FPS in games but speed are good if I enable only 1 card.
I tested both card 1 by 1 for about 10 days each to make sure everything was fine.
