    SweClockers: Geforce GTX 590 burns @ 772MHz & 1.025V

After having owned several of these "two cards in one slot" jobbies, both nVidia and ATI, I'm convinced they are more trouble than they are worth. I recommend anyone who has a need for this much graphics power to purchase two cards and go Crossfire or SLI. Trust me, you'll pay with a...

    Is 1920x1200 really dead?

True. I would also like to see a convergence on a single format as well, be it 16:9, 16:10, or something else even more landscape-y. It would be nice to see the next Dell 30"-er with this resolution on a 120Hz, backlit, "thin-as-a-Samsung-LED" width panel. I've been using my two Dell...

    Is 1920x1200 really dead?

Same reason the resolution of the iPhone 3 is dead when the iPhone 4 came out. We haven't yet reached a pixel density on desktop monitors that is higher than the eye detect (if that makes sense..) I've been gaming at 2560x1600 for 4 years now, and would be hard pressed to go back to any...

2500K, 8GB RAM, 460: to SLI or not to SLI?

Don't do it. Just save up for a better single card.

[fixed] Dragon Age 2 Low Performance on Nvidia Cards [fixed]

Haven't had problems with DA2 on a 580 setup with dual monitors. I run the game on my primary. I have had problems running a movie (or any application with video) on the second monitor, in either windowed or fullscreen game mode. Bioware games tend to be very fickle that way, which is...

    Is 1920x1200 really dead?

Interesting thread. IMO, 1920x1200/1080 are both dead. You should be looking at 2560x1600, which are available at sub-30" sizes. It'd be nice to see 24-27" panels settle in here and let the 30"+ push a bit higher.

Eyefinity 3 monitors all diff resolutions

Complain all you want about bezels in multi-monitor setups, but the different horizontal depths on the two outer monitors vs. the center one are far more distracting. That's not to say I don't like such a setup-- but if you're going to do it, keep your vertical resolutions the same. In other...

    Multi-Monitor, Multi-GPU Personal Experiences (AMD & nVidia)

@WetNinja Once I setup the three monitors for Eyefinity in Catalyst Control Center, I was able to select 3240x1920 as my default resolution, which Civ 5 picked up when I launched. @sandorski Pretty much. They don't bother me, and for the Dell ones I'm using, I actually thunk they are on...

    3240x1920 Multi-monitor Gaming - Dragon Age 2, LFD2 Video

I've been flirting with multi-monitor gaming with a PC setup I've put together. I call it my "Lab PC", which basically means it's subject to rebuild at any given time. It's gained a fair amount of stability lately as I've shuffled components around. In short, i7-980x, 12GB RAM, AMD 6970 2GB...

How big of a monitor is too big?

My main system has two 30" monitors in portrait, side-by-side. My ideal monitor would be a single, extremely landscape-y panel. In the meantime I'm waiting for a vendor to break the 30", 2560x1600 (or above) format. So, go 30". Unless you have one of those mini computer desks, you won't...

    32" HDTV OR (2) x 24" Viewsonic Monitors?

In short, 2x24" monitors. TV's (LCD/LED/Plasma/whatever) cap out at 1080p, plain and simple. That's a limitation I could never live with for a computer.

    Multi-Monitor, Multi-GPU Personal Experiences (AMD & nVidia)

I primarily game on a single 30" 2560x1600 display. The 3240x1920 display (and all the shots from it above) are from a secondary computer I've been working on the past few months. Between a friend and I, we probably only logged 6 hours on the 3240x1920 display (mostly BFBC2 and Civ 5).

    Got Dell U3011?

Quite a lovely sight. Planning to keep them in that setup? The sheer amount of horizontal distance to sweep your view across them seems rough on the neck. Thought about three of them in portrait, keeping the 4th in landscape? That would leave some nice options. Unless, you're using them for...

    Multi-Monitor, Multi-GPU Personal Experiences (AMD & nVidia)

Good catch, and you are correct. When I said "8800GX2", I meant "9800GX2". FWIW, I've owned a 7950GX2, a 8800GT, and a 9800GX2 (in that order). My experiences with both the 7950GX2 and 9800GX2 were virtually the same (i.e., limitations with dual monitors and occasional crashes/stability...

    Multi-Monitor, Multi-GPU Personal Experiences (AMD & nVidia)

VLC. Most of the time I game without sound, so watching a movie on the second monitor doesn't present audio conflicts. When I want both audio outputs, I assign the output device in VLC to the speakers and plug in USB headphones and set them as the default output in Windows. In response to the...

    Multi-Monitor, Multi-GPU Personal Experiences (AMD & nVidia)

I've seen a number of posts about multi-monitor/multi-GPU systems, but not many from the answer-side. Having gone through a few recent system builds with current AMD and nVidia cards I figured I'd share my experiences. I'll throw out a few thoughts and it folks have more questions, I'll try my...

    Hardware obsession

I feel you, my brother-in-hardware. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford the latest. Assuming a measurable benefit I'll buy it. I'm running (and loving) my i7-2600 w/ 16GB on an Asus P8P67 Deluxe (yes, my one SATA drive is on the 6GB port, so the bug won't affect me.) That said, I...
