LCD Buyer's Guide

It's $498.82US at ewiz. I opted for the 2001fp though since I've used it for gaming and liked it and the reports of some banding or other oddities in the black-reds on the L2000C worried me.

7400 Go performance?

Anyone have a sense of how well the GeForce Go 7400 performs in modern games? I haven't been able to find any good reviews.

That's assuming that newer is better. The LCD lag issue is an example, I'm feeling a bit cautious. And I hate paying for return shipping. edit: I'm hoping the Dell 2007fp has the same LG panel since Dell is popular enough to get tested by more hardware sites.

Dell uses both Samsung and LG. The 2001fp is LG.

I'm wondering if this is Dell's version of the LG L2000C. Hard to say what the 16ms means since we've seen panels promoting 2ms that aren't.

Dell 2005FPW Backlight issue

That's pretty bad. Looks similar to the backlight bleed on a Samsung 17" that I returned. I was looking at the Dell displays at a kiosk at the mall and the guy there said it was a relabeled Samsung which really put me off.

40% - 60% CPU usage for no reason

I had exactly the same problem. For me, it turned out to be a parallel Zip drive causing problems.

FX. Nobody really expected the Parahelia to be great. People expected NV30 to rock the house. Parahelia just proved people right, while the FX was the major letdown.

Can I add a filter to my antec style case?

Size is wrong. I tried. I just use a furnace filter cut to size. I tape the edges for neatness then cram it in under the front bezel.

Just broadcast digital. Even the TV manufacturers didn't have a deal worked out with the cable companies for digital cable tuners in TVs until the last week or so. It will be a little while before PCI cards come out for the consumer market that support digital cable.

Ideas for a simple PC, used solely for IRC?

Just keep your eyes open. I just picked up a P3 500 for $35 from a company that was upgrading their inventory. Heck, the Intel 10/100 card in it is probably still worth that much.

No. The card can do basic cable and extended basic. It can not do digital cable, HDTV or satellite.

Like I said, capture using the Uncompressed setting, then use editing/compression software to get it smaller with quality. Better to as your questions in the video and software forums.

In the capture options, it does have "Uncompressed AVI", which I would suggest trying. It may be good enough for what you want to do. VHS really isn't the best source format anyway, so this card may not make that huge of an impact. The capture files will be huge, but then you can take it into...
