Help with unlocking cores on ASRock AM3+ boards.

This may get you going: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2927 I know very little about it the whole thing, but I'm going to presume that the AMD SB850 supports it. Not sure, as this article was written in 1/10, and I assume that preceded the release of your motherboard's chipset. Edit: nevermind...

College Notebook Advice

Laptops break all the time due to poor manufacturing and ill design. Personally, I don't think spending the extra cash on a Lenovo is a half-bad idea.

LGA 775 SLI board recommendation?

Very important to get a good looking card. People really underestimate this type of thing. When your neighbors come over, you need to have something *good* looking to brag about, none of that vanilla stuff sitting on the inside of your PC case.

I caught my neighbor's iPhone staring in my bedroom window, last night. Seriously though, a particular amount of privacy is a right, particularly with a product that you purchase. Maybe you all trust the police, but I sure as hell don't; from experience.

When will the core wars stop?

More cores are great for systems that do a lot of unrelated processing simultaneously, but I have a feeling that the consumer market will show less of a need for these. Consumer-oriented programs still don't take advantage of the threading/cores available on the current machines, in many cases.

Upgrading intel E2200 - Not worth it?

Generally, the nuts around here and other PC enthusiast sites can't stand using somewhat older technology, so take that into consideration. Why don't you go ahead and use your system with what you currently own and see how well it runs? Memory hasn't had a whole lot of impact on gaming once...

Is multi-gpu the way to go now?

Single GPU systems use less power and have, generally, fewer problems. They also have more predictable performance across games.

Does raising FSB speed use more power?

Yes, but not as much as if you changed both the VCore and the FSB speed. Faster the processor operates the more energy it must use.

It isn't pointless if it serves its purpose, and you don't have to throw much money at it. It isn't like fixing up an old car or something that is bound to break down no matter how many times that you fix it. Advantage of an older platform is that you can save some cash. Be smart.

Did Godfather II killed my 8800GTS ?

People have had cards work for quite a while, I believe, and I was using permanent as a relative term to the 4 hours that the card lasts when you simply expand the solder. Hell, if you think about it, even atoms decay. Can always re-bake, too.

I baked a 8800 GTX back to life. Baked a GTX 280, too. Still have to rebake the 280, but the initial low-heat bake was successful, so I'm pretty certain the high-heat bake will permanently fix it. Basically, you can stick your card in the oven at like 120 degrees C for 10 minutes, let it...

Cannot change CPU Voltage on P5K-SE

You probably have to change a BIOS setting in the same menu to open up other options. Think it might be AI Overclock Tuner needs to be set to Manual.
