Best GUI programming/scripting system?

Check out Qt. The documentation is solid, the layout system is much more practical that Swing, and much easier to make use of than Win32. IMHO, stick with the classic "Widgets" system rather than focusing on the new QML stuff for doing Desktop apps. It's not as modern, but for normal GUI apps...

It won't help much. The biggest issue is from running an LCD panel outside of the native resolution. That will be blurry. LCD panels don't have very good image scaling built in. Some are better than others, but none is especially great. postmortemIA's three points were in the right order...

Why Panavision?

There are cameras that work with large images on "rotated" 35mm film. They naturally use quite a lot more film to shoot something than using normal 35mm full ap does. Using an anamorphic lens is generally a lot cheaper than shooting in a weird format like that...
