Since you have just purchased those x800s are you still wanting my asus x800xl ?
I give OP 2 thumbs up.
I bought the Gigabyte X850XT PE and the Power Colors.
Buying a card for sm3.0 support makes as much since as buying a $600.00 + card to get an additional 5 to 10 frames per second, when a card for $350.00 plays all games at acceptable frames. Considering that both ATI and Nvidia will support the feature on the next generation validates its importance.
Gee, and I thought everyone said ati owns nvidia in direct 3d ? and where was an ultra extreme in these tests ? As drivers mature, both ati and nvidia look very close.
Give me a break! there is way to much whinning and complaining about my card is better than yours, and which company makes superior cards, and they cheated! Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it
I forgot to mention that you will also need to raise your cpu voltage. Go in the bios and make sure cpu voltage is not set as default or hardware. Set it to atleast 1.5 or 1.6
You will need to go in to the bios and set your fsb and multiplyer manually
I have a mobile 2400+ and had to do the same. mine is running at 200x12 for 2400 mhz.
Go to your local store which sells graphics cards and if you find a 6800 ultra extreme and a 800xt pe ON THE SHELF then I will agree with you. Both companys are having a hard time getting quality chips from TSMC and IBM. thus the reason the 6800gt and the x800 pro are available in decent...
Looks like neither ATI, nor Nvidia could not get enough quality chips from TSMC, or IBM to get the 6800 ultra extreme or the XT PEs to market in mass quantitys........
Besides getting memory thats fast enough for either chip :brokenheart:
I would suggest saving more cash and purchasing a 6800, x800 pro or an 6800 gt .
You have a 3.3 ghz cpu, why not get a card that your cpu is equal to or one that your cpu bottle necks?
If you only have $200.00 I would get a 9800 pro.
Thanks to this benchmark I can now clearly tell everyone I know that ATI is much better this generation because of their superior memory and engineering
NV has made poor PR choices, but so has ATI. The fx series of cards are not bad, and NV sales are doing just fine. If anything has hurt NV , it was the driver issues and smear tatics used by their competitors, and fan base.
Have you checked your fan wire? I had a ti4400 and when I first used it the fan rubbed against the wire and made a loud clicking noise. All that was needed was to move the wire back in the slot on the fan so it no longer hit the fan! If that is the the problem, its at least an easy fix. Good...
It seems to me that people want to argue about the optimization being a cheat. Looks like a great technique to me. The problem is, both cards should have been benched either with both using optimizations or both using full trilinear filtering. This is not a hard concept to understand or agree...
The biggest point to this IMHO is that both cards were benchmarked at there launch against each other.
when the cards were set at high quality settings, one was more impressive than the other. So many people are buying that card not knowing that the cards were not run with the same settings of...
