In my short experience using Win2000 and HT, I found that games and other applications requiring lots of cpu power suffered a ~15-25% loss in performance. After realizing that, I switched to XP.
After more testing, the problem is there in all resolutions 1280 and up, AA or no AA. From all the forums posts I've read this seems to be a hardware problem, more precisely cheap power connectors interfering with the display or something to that effect.
This problem also seems to be affecting...
Just did a little more testing, the problem exhibits itself with no AA enabled at 1600x1200 in BF1942 (My monitor does 85Hz at 1600 which is also my desktop resolution so I'm positive this flickering is only present in the game). The game runs fine but after a few minutes the flickering gets...
Just got my Asus 5900 Ultra a few days ago.
One thing I've noticed that's really annoying is that whenever I enable AA in games, I get low-refreshrate-like flickering which ends up hurting my eyes after a while. This is especially annoying since the sweet spot for games like BF1942 seems to be...
Yes, HyperThreading makes a huge difference in running multiple cpu-heavy apps at once. Things that used to literally freeze my system until they were done now are hardly noticeable.
Try watching the movies through your TV out, once I did that my movies looked 10x better than on my monitor. Only the crappiest rips had the "squares" noticeable on the 32 inch television.
Well I got a hold of the older P03 bios which let me select the 333 frequency, but even when I used that setting the ram speed stayed at 266. Any ideas?
Yes, it lets me adjust the timings as well as the ram frequency, but my only options are 200 and 266 MHz. Hehe, well I received the 3.0 and the board as a gift, I can't really afford the ram is why I'm using my old modules.
Ya I dug around in that bios and ended up setting my ram to the most agressive (user defined) settings. But it still wouldn't let me set it as ddr333. I found something interesting here: Link
Take a look. I'm trying to find that bios version, no luck so far.
I just got this board today and I was hoping to re-use my pc2100 Micron dimms that I was previously using (which I know are very capable of ddr333), but the motherboard is only giving me the options of ddr266 and ddr200.
Is there anything I can do? This is severily limiting my memory bandwidth...
I've been having a problem ever since I installed XP and tried using search to find some files : I put in the information and when I press search, a blank dialog/error box with ok at the bottom pops up. No text inside the box, just an OK button. The search never even starts.
I've tried changing...
I downloaded that but it only seems to have the kill.exe instead of killall.exe, so I can only kill programs by process ID. That's fine except the programs have a different PID every time they start. Do you know of any other similar programs/ utilities? Thanks.
Actually I'm trying to kill all my file sharing apps before 7:00am, at which time my isp's monthly transfer limits are active (transfers aren't counted between midnight-7am). SoulAssassin, could you point me to a such program? Thanks
I'm wondering if there is any way I can schedule tasks to close at a predetermined time like 7:00am or whatever. For example closing a file sharing program. I'm running WinXP SP1.
Any ideas?
This is due to the 16-bit Z-buffer that your card uses in 16-bit, it's simply the Z-buffer not being accurate enough (24-32bit) to represent the hidden surfaces correctly. I don't know of any fixes for that type of thing :/
Just run your games in 32-bit color, with a card like yours I doubt the...
I'm looking for something to replace my SK-6, 80mm Sunon combo.. I intend to use the same 36 cfm sunon on the next heatsink but have trouble deciding besides those good 80mm heatsinks. Which one would be best with my (relatively) low power 36cfm fan? Running a 1600+ overclocked to 1.6GHz, 1.75v.
Unless you are speaking of a kt133a board (note the A at the end), I highly doubt it will be capable of running 133MHz fsb... my old A7V would crap out at anything over 110 MHz.
<< I know this has nothing to do w/your fps, but bring down your refresh rate a little bit. That's overkill, 85hz is where it should be. >>
Why is that? I find 100Hz much more pleasing to the eyes than 85Hz
there seem to be some capacitors on the left of the heatsink in the picture, that might be bad for a crystal orb. I think a small fan or an 80mm fan on a bracket will solve your problem.
