Ok guys I was distracted by playing games on my new rig. Sorry I took so long to reply.
Yes I got it working, sorry for the rage there. I was getting upset thinking that I ordered a graphics card that was DOA. For some reason, it wouldn't work when I connected it with a VGA cable. Which I...
it isn't but everyone on this thread said it should work anyway, idk what cable im using, its a cable that is blue on both ends. PLugs into the monitor and and computer..
Ok, I took the gpu out. THe computer won't even start without the gpu... ok. I switched back to the graphics card that came with the computer.. that booted up fine. So that means I put in the new graphics card wrong, or it's broken.. Hopefully its just that I did something wrong. So I have a...
Yes, I plugged it into the GPU. I switched it to the onboard video and it doesn't work either..when I turn the monitor on it says no input detected for both gpu and onboard.. so I dunno what to do, I never even turned the computer on before I switched the graphics card on so now I'm completed...
Got the case of completly lost on how to remove the graphics card thats in it now, all the fucking videos seem so simply but this has nothing to remove it and there is no screws or anything to remove it so I give up. Should have never bought a graphics card seperatly I can't do anything myself...
I can't open my new dell xps 8300 case!

This is what the back looks like, I assume you would just have to unscrew that one screw below and...
Hmm, so you think that it is completely safe to go ahead and put the graphics card in without getting a new PSU? If it does somehow miss-function could I just replace the power supply? Or would it break other parts of the computer as well? Thanks for all the input and help guys!
Well ****, I may be in trouble. I was looking at the page to see the details and.. I just noticed that it says it requires a 500 watt power supply. The dell only comes with a 460. I thought you guys that would run the 6780 fine... well I guess I'll buy a power supply. Damn it gonna have to go...
I finnally got to post a reply the forum servers kept lagging for me. Anyway I went ahead and got the sapphire card. I missed mfenns post. Anyway I hope it works I'll let you guys know on the 23rd or so when both my card and computer are here. Thanks everyone!

I've been told it's Skyrim footage, but by the date of the video that doesn't seem right. Others say Oblivion but I've played 300 hours of Oblivion and I don't recognize the environment.
Anyway just wondering..if anyone can shed...
I'm looking for just a tiny bit more feedback. Right now I'm leaning toward the 6870 sapphire because it seems to have good reviews. I decided to spend an extra 15 bucks for the better card. So.. do you think its a good idea to go ahead and get the...
Well, I guess it's probably worth getting the 6870 for 25 extra bucks... although on the Benchmark sites they score pretty dang close. Does the 6870 run cooler?
Also what makes you recommend the biostar over say the sapphire(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-913-_-Product) which got better...
How about a 6850? Cheaper than the 6870. Umm, also I assume all of them would fit in the computer and be compatible, not sure how to check. Also what are good brands to go with, don't want to get a card that breaks.
Ok, I just changed the thread completely. I went with dolts option, now I need a graphics card that is compatible with what I just bought and is a good deal. I can spend around $175. Less preferably.
Thanks! Dolt that was great, I never even heard of the dell outlet before. That seems like a very good deal. So I could get a Xps 8300 http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/Online/SecondaryInventorySearch.aspx?rn=1694&SC=&c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh for $610 and then get a video card. I have a...
Great. I guess I'm going to go ahead and buy the dell since I didn't get any replies and I want to get this computer ASAP. In that case what graphics card should I get to go with a Dell Xps 8300:

Rig works like a charm. On it right now. Got everything installed and working. Plays Just Cause two on max settings at about 80 fps which is amazing compared to what I'm used to.
Thank you all so much for all the constant help on building the rigs, we got it done. Mostly thanks to you guys!
That's fine with me if I have to upgrade some parts and a year in a half or something, I'm sure the price of current higher-end graphics cards will be much lower by then.
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go ahead and order tomorrow. If anyone spots any problems with compatibility or with a...
Actually it is about $50 more. Unless I'm doing something wrong, I double checked. Added together you save more because the other memory has $20 rebate... I also don't think I will be buying it today so I'm not sure the $25 rebate applies.
Also the first motherboard with the cpu combo got...
Sigh, I posted the new build I'm looking at based on comments but we will have to wait for it to be approved by a mod cause of the links, thanks though guys, keep commenting.

I'm like 4-5 hours north of San Fransisco so it's kind of a hassle to drive down.
Remember that while I am willing to go up to $850 if it will save me money by not having to upgrade for awhile I would prefer to stay around 750-800. Also is it really worth the extra $100 to go with Intel over a...
Thanks for the article, it helped me understand what it does a little better but I'm still not sure how to chose one, what makes a "good" motherboard. Anyway, I live in northern California, north of San Fransisco. Also I looked at my title and it says >850$. *Facepalm* I meant less than 850...
I posted a thread in general hardware and a message flashed up but it was gone before I posted it, not sure what it said but something about approval, I'm posting again in off-topic to check.
As others said, upgrading your graphics card is going to make a huge difference. Personally I use http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html to quickly check and see if a graphics card is actually decent. A higher number doesn't always = better. 5850 sounds good.. at quick glance the...
Hello everyone this is not only the first computer that I have decided to build myself but also my first post on these forums!
First of all, I'm new to building computers so bare with me...
My current computer is now over 5 years old and dying, I can barely play any games on it and I...
