    Yup I totally get it. You don't know what you're missing out on ...and are used to 20 min batch jobs. In reality, you could have had a big update in 2018 with the ryzen.5 2600 for $199 and almost 2.5x the performance

    The FX8350 is still a very good CPU. Benchmark of 5900. Not a gaming CPU, but still compares to basic modern laptop.. 3000g is worse and had a lower benchmark score. Weird. But I agree that if I was doing rendering on a daily basis, I would have upgraded long ago. What are you considering...

    Use TaskMgr to see if you're over 8GB RAM If so, $70 to upgrade the RAM to 16GB. $100 to buy a used i7-4810MQ. Not a huge difference? Sorry, but it will be TWICE as fast a CPU. Huge difference going to Quad Core

    How exactly is the laptop slow for your needs? i5, SSD, 8GB Win10, should be plenty fast for basic laptop use. You can buy an 8GB RAM Stick for $40 and up it to 12GB. Should be a solid laptop that has many years of service.

    I've decided to revisit upgrading the CPU again. 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, this thing is going strong. I'll update the CPU and put a fresh Win10 on it. Should be good for many more years before something fails or fries.

    I'm still using this laptop daily. Now it's 7 years old! I upgraded it to Win10. That breathed new life with a fresh OS. 16GG RAM and SSD with Win10 is still a strong laptop. It has blue screened a few times, and the rubber trim has peeled off but it's still doing daily service.
