TB EX II needs X4 for full performance not X8. However, to do M.2 and TB EX II "effectively", you would need the WS.
4770K and 4790K will both work in the Z97-WS.
This thread is for the official support of the ASUS Z97 motherboard series.
Lots of feature changes over the older platforms - from software, UEFI and aesthetics.

What CPU are you using? I assume you have tried a single module in all four of the slots and found the same issue each time (ensuring they are clicking into place on both sides)?

1) Set the "hot plug" option to enabled in UEFI n the ports that the HDDs are connected to.
2) Sounds like you are using an old monitor that does not sit well with UEFI output display. Not much we can do about this - might be time to invest in a newer display.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about the issues. It is a strange scenario indeed - sounds like a faulty card. If those GPUs are using different BIOSes it may not sit well with the nV drivers also.
You can get away with using different types of DIMMs provided you do not breach the specifictions of the...
Can you place a fan near the CPU VRM heatsink to cool it and see if you still get system resets please?
You can insert two DIMMs - I only suggested one DIMM to flash BIOS; in case the system was severely unstable.
Check all components are properly seated (GPU especially).
What USB devices do...
Calm down please, I want to know if they are the custom cooler types and if that is what is connecting with the SATA ports. Because even if the PCB is almost flush the cards usually do latch unless you get the fan cable caught between the PCB and SATA connector.

Hi,
that may be a big of some sort. For now, do not to install the RST drivers if you don't plan on using the Intel SATA ports (and if you do, do it when you have a drive connected to them). The drivers are supposed to be used on those ports when the drive configuration used needs them.
-Raja
Ok, stick in an RMA request and keep in touch - let me know if you have any problems along the way. Before that, if you have the time, might be worth trying a fresh install just in case something got screwed up with drivers (use the driver on the ASUS site from scratch).

Updated first post:
BIOS 0501 is due to go up soon, this will be for all current Z68 motherboards (P8Z68-V, Pro, Deluxe).
The fix-list is as follows.
1. Update RAID OPROM to version 10.5.0.1034 to enable the support of Intel Rapid Storage Technology version 10.5.0.1026
2. Allow adjustment of...
Hi,
Could be a number of causes to something like this. At the hardware level check there are no "broken" cables, these can be broken internally and a small movement will cause them to reconnect intermittently which would give the speaker plugin / unplugged messages.
With regards to the USB...
The changes are to correct issues between Intel's RST drivers and Virtu, so if that applies to you I'd recommend flashing. The 8801 is the BIOS used by all media for reviews, coincidentally.

I am talking to HQ about this now. A couple of questions have come back from the initial discussion - just for clarification purposes:
1) Are you using the SATA 6G (white) or black SATA3 cables?
2) Just to clarify - The R3E uses the 9123 Marvell controller while the Gene uses the 9128. The...
Hi,
I'll check out the AI Suite issue (which BIOS version are you using - I'd recommend flashing to the latest).
For Virtu, the iGPU Multi-Monitor support option has to be enabled in BIOS to allow the IGP to remain functional when add-on graphic cards are used.

Hi,
I assume you've gone through the regular rigmarole of clearing CMOS (power down at AC). Once you've tried memory changes, send me a PM with a complete parts list and driver versions listed and I'll see what we can do to replicate/help you out.
