It's really nothing new coming from AMD. I still remember the bulldozer hype. Now that was the real deal as far as hyping. At least mantle doesn't perform worse than dx.
Why am I not surprised? This 290X and 290 launch was and is a complete mess. Starting with the presentation in Hawaii when they couldn't even get the 3Dmark score right on their own slides apart from a joke of an event with no streaming and so on. Then we have delays, nobody knows when the cards...
This is a muscle flexing exercise from Nvidia. The speed with which they reacted to the surprising performance of Haitii is revealing. They dropped their $1000 card like a stone releasing a $300 cheaper card while outperforming it with a reasonable margin. People should stop complaining about...
It's rather simple really. This card is not a $400 card. Unless your're deaf or your PC is in the other room, it can't be used to give you the advertised performance due to the noise. So you'll have to invest in a cooler which will bring the cost of the card closer to $500 than the MSRP (while...
Given the new landscape at the top Nvidia has to unleash all they have to keep the dear crown. So, a fully enabled GK110 is reasonable to appear given that we already know it exists in professional cards. On the other hand NV knew for some good time what is Hawaii capable of. This 780Ti wasn't...
Other than the price I don't see anything particularly great about this card. And the price is in fact a correct one for a high-end card, nothing more and people should understand that it is only this $550 tag in relation with the Titan madness pricing and the overpriced 780 which makes the 290X...
Don't think so. My take is 550$. Think that the small market of high-end cards was covered by the last 8 mo by Titan and 5 mo by GTX 780. Even if this card is at or slightly above Titan levels, which by all accounts appears to be and has more than 10% over the 780, it is not a justifiable...
That GPuZ shot is a fake so we still don't know what's in the Ti but it has to be faster than the 290x, I'm sure NV knows by now better than any of us the capabilities of the 290x. So they have no chance but release a faster card than Titan slightly more expensive than the 290x.
On a second look, shouldn't be the texture fillrate something like GPU clock * TMUs? Like
902*208 which is = 187 GTexel/s? Such a blatant fake? Or am I wrong?
I think that at 1080p and 1440 the 290X will be within a few frames up or down compared to Titan largely depending on the game selection. More or less a tie. This means the 780 will be anywhere between 8 and 15% below. In order to reclaim the top spot, debatable because it will depend on so many...
What a joke. An AMD controlled benchmark performed by independent tech websites and reviewers. Wonder how much do they get paid? Or is it free advertising?
Useless benchmark since it's a beta. Maybe the only conclusion is that AMD needs the mantle bad. The latest patch today pretty much fixed everything. I'm running Windows 7.
Cool. The game runs better on an OS used by a small minority of gamers. Mantle will bring improvements for another, albeit larger minority. Dice seems to be more interested in promoting software and hardware than selling games.
I don't think for the moment Nvidia needs an Atlas for consumer market. For all we could gather from bits and leaks, the 290X will trade blows with Titan while being priced to 780 levels or slightly higher. NV needs a GK110 based card between the 780 and the 770 while dropping the price of the...
