OK, I see that Intel has admitted there is an unsolved issue with the 320s. But seriously, there is absolutely no proof that their return rate is any higher than other Intel SSDs. You should totally go for it.
You should completely ignore all this crap about a 320 bug. I have heard that it doesn't even really exist. It was possibly completely made up by one of Intel's competitors. Just what I've heard. Not confirmed of course.
Someone finally got a response from Intel tech support (via phone) about the 320 problem here. Basically, they said they HOPE to have a firmware update in the next few weeks. But it's not guaranteed.
Another person is claiming here that Intel told him there is NO timeframe for the fix and...
2500k with a Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 board. No overclocking. Major motherboard problems within a few days (boot cycling in particular). Nothing wrong with the processor as far as I can tell.
Regarding the 320s...
I think the bottom line is that only Intel knows the real failure rate of these drives. Yes, it's possible that they are not failing any more than any other Intel SSDs. It's possible that, because the current issue is now identifiable as the "8MB bug", that you're...
Yes, I was going to RMA my "8MB bug"-infested (but now reformatted) 320 but I'm going to hold off now too, knowing that the issue will be resolved by Intel shortly.
I had this happen to me with a new Intel 320 120GB SSD (boot drive). Luckily I wasn't really using the system yet, just installing software and testing. But it's complete data loss and can only be "fixed" (i.e. reformatted) with a serious secure erase (using HDDErase in my case).
In my case...
You should be aware of a potential problem with the 320 drives before you order one.

Finally acknowledged by Intel
http://communities.intel.com/message/131852#131852
Obviously this isn't happening to every 320 SSD out there, but it is...
Apparently they're at least acknowledging it now, but they haven't said what they're going to do about it. I think I'll give them about two weeks before I return it for a refund.
Be careful with the Intel 320 SSDs. They can get zapped from 80GB to 8MB (complete loss of data) in some cases when power is cut.
See this recent thread: Is 320 firmware buggy?
Happened to me, though I just yesterday was able to fix it using HDDErase v3.3.
Intel hasn't acknowledged the...
I was able to reformat the drive with HDDErase using these instructions. The drive is once again showing up in BIOS as 120GB. Using it in Win7 as a non-boot drive and it passed all the Intel SSD "health" tests.
Now I just have to decide if I'm willing to continue to gamble with this thing...
I was able to reformat the drive with HDDErase using these instructions. The drive is once again showing up in BIOS as 120GB. Haven't tested it yet or anything, but I'm assuming it will be usable again.
Now I just have to decide if I'm willing to continue to gamble with this thing or just...
I'm just kinda kicking myself about this. My old P4 2.8Ghz WinXP system is still going strong, barely any problems for about 6-7 years. I just started getting a hankering for some speed and power. To play 60p video files from my new camcorder, for one thing (old machine can't do it). Maybe...
I know that non-matched RAM can cause issues but the boot cycling problem started before I had the G.Skill modules (those were added weeks later). And I've tried the G.Skill modules by themselves too, same problem. (They are on the QVL for this motherboard by the way...though the Crucials are...
OK, this is great. Looks like there are lots of phones to choose from, as long as AT&T doesn't give me any hassles. I might even be willing to go up to the $150 range if it has WiFi and a nice camera...
Not sure about the Virgin/Boost thing (I'm in Los Angeles) but I do know that of the major...
I don't want a smart phone because I don't want to pay an extra $200+ per year for something I don't need. I use minimal minutes, never even come close to using my 450 per month with AT&T and always have thousands of rollover. Have the $10 1000-text message plan and never come close to that...
I think I like this idea! Forgive me, total newb with this stuff...so I can just plop an AT&T SIM into one of these phones? Would I be able to just use the one I currently have in my Sony phone? Does this cause any potential problems with AT&T?
Well, my old Sony W580i slider phone is finally starting to come apart. As in, pieces are falling off of it. Still works though. Hasn't been able to make external sound for almost two years (due to extensive dropping...it's slippery!). But I'm starting to think I may have to replace it soon...
Thx reb0rn, good link. But I can't get it to work for some reason. Made a boot DVD (don't have any blank CDs) with the hdderase.exe on it (nothing else). I can boot into DOS, but it's not finding the exe. Must try to figure this out...
Oh don't I know it. And I don't really trust any one brand over others. Over the years, I've had a Maxtor, an IBM (aahhh, the Deathstar...memories...), a Seagate and two Western Digitals go on me. Swore I'd never buy another WD. Bought 2 or 3 since then of course.
I had the same though at first but the lure of flash speed was too great. Plus, I figured with the 5 year warranty, as long as I could get the thing up and running with tweaks, and then imaged, I'd be OK. Silly me.
Yeah, trying to decide if I want to RMA the SSD or just get a refund and replace it with something else. If they really do come out with a firmware update in July that fixes the problem, it would be fine. But they haven't admitted to the problem yet so I'd be rolling the dice. Don't want to...
UPDATE!! The answer to Question #2 is YES. I found this thread and it seems that there is emerging evidence that the Intel 320 SSDs can revert to 8MB when they are power cycled. This explains it. So basically I have a bad motherboard which then killed my SDD. Lucky me. Of course these...
For an as yet undetermined reason, my Intel 320 120GB drive (Win7 Home 64) is now un-bootable and showing up in the BIOS as 8MB. I haven't tried to recover or reformat it yet. In the old days I would just try to FDISK it or something similar but more powerful. I want to try to fix it tonight...
I was thinking maybe I'd try another drive, but now I'm afraid of what this board might be doing to the drives. Even though all of the drives are SATA 3Gb, I had the SSD on an SATA 6Gb port. I believe it's a problem with the 6Gb ports, because they were also causing HDD errors on the Samsungs...
I agree that the symptoms could also point to a bad CPU or PSU, but it seems like there are enough documented cases of bad Sandy Bridge boards that I'm probably just going to send it back. Not sure if I should even bother trying another PSU (which will disable my WORKING system). I just really...

I'm looking for something similar. Or I should say, I'm looking to REPLACE my GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 which is really a piece of cr*p. I started getting the "boot cycling" problem that many others are getting (see this thread). It seems to be happening with P67, Z68 and H67 boards by Gigabyte. And...
Passed the ESTOOL diagnostic on another SATA channel. As it turns out, the two SATAIII channels cause this error in ESTOOL but the SATAII channels do not.
So...not clear whether ESTOOL doesn't like these SATAIII ports, or if something's actually wrong with the ports. Both drives are SATAII...
The 1GB drive was tested before the G.Skill modules were installed, so I doubt it's that. Interesting sidenote...I checked yesterday and the G.Skill modules are actually on Gigabyte's "tested & compatible" list but the Crucial sticks are not.
I checked my BIOS settings and my ports are...
Yeah, this was 3.01v and the error occurred with both the 1TB drive (7200rpm) and the 2TB drive (5400rpm).
UGH. Either way, this is a PITA. Either I have to RMA two drives, or I have to figure out why the test isn't working correctly.
Hmm. Well, I had the time to run the manufacturer's diagnostic tool so I went ahead and did it. And now I'm glad I did. I'm sure the drive would be usable, but I assume if there are errors at the outset (in this case, seemingly with the cache), the drive's longevity/reliability will be...
So I ran Samsung's ESTOOL on the 2nd and 3rd drives for my new system and I'm getting the same exact problem with both of them. I was about to RMA my 1TB F3 HD103SJ but then last night I got the same thing with a 2TB F4 HD204UI, so now I'm suspicious.
All tests get a Pass! except for WRITE...
