HD5850 owners, roll call!

You really need to work on your skill in dealing with tier 1 tech support. If you're certain the CPU is the issue, the conversation should go like this... "Plugged 2600k in, no boot, plugged in friends 2600k and boots fine". Done. I worked for Dell tech support for a bit, and whenever a customer...

Keyboard and Mouse for Gaming: Any suggestions?

It does not, I wasn't aware of that when I purchased it, ended up taking it back. Would be the perfect mouse for me otherwise. Having to keep my dying G5 until logitech comes out with something similar. The G500 is too large.

Upgrade Parent's Desktop?

As has been previously stated, system looks great. It's amazing how sluggish some people's computers can get over time. Reformatting/reinstalling drivers and software would prob take around 3-4 hours depending on how much stuff they have. Best upgrade would be an external hard drive to backup to...

86C too hot for SandyBridge?

Somethings definitely not right, I'm at 4.5GHz and I'm hitting 54C max on prime95 with my 212+ and this is in an apartment at 80 fahrenheit. The 212+ requires a great deal of thermal grease because of the 4 heat pipes on the bottom of the heatsink aren't flush. Best strategy is to use 2 lines of...
