Dualshock 2-esque XInput controller - They're bloody nonexistant, I tells ya!

Confirming F710 is really great. Almost no beefs with it, aside from the fact that its radio connection is relatively weak and I have to make use of the included USB extension cable for its RF receiver. It also has an XInput/DirectInput toggle, and works on OSX too, if those things ever matter...

Nvidia HairWorks in COD: Ghosts

They made a bit of a noob mistake. The base model's volume already accounts for the animal having a coat of fur, and they just painted fibers on top of that surface. Hence the glam rocker look. They should have created a leaner "skin and bones" model and painted that with fur. Still looks cool...

It is my understanding that Crossfire (don't know about SLI) still requires fullscreen mode to work, which tragically precludes the use fullscreen windowed mode.

Can you post screenshots of the OC tab in bios? The only ones I can find of that board are either low res, or weird photographs of monitors that I can't read.

Like I said I only have my P67 Ex4 to go by, but it if the Bios layouts are they same it should be below the CPU multiplier option, but above the voltage option. The overcurrent protection is probably the one that's throttling you.

Asrock motherboards, if they're anything like the P67 Extreme4 I have, have overcurrent and powerdraw protection. Their default settings are very conservative, so you need to manually increase them in order to prevent throttling.

DirectX 11.2 for Windows 8.1 and Xbox One only

One huge change is that searching is no longer segregated into Programs/Settings/Documents bins. Or so I have heard. Now granted, it was a regression to begin with so this only brings it back up to parity with W7, but it is technically a big improvement.

I don't know exactly where to check with Nvidia drivers, but make sure that GPU or driver scaling is enabled. Sounds like maybe your monitor's scaler is ruining the image (or possibly misinterpreting a 1080p signal as a TV signal and doing some undesirable image processing), so scaling it with...

Who uses a smart phones but doesnt really use apps much?

Depends on the context of the game. If you're in first person walking down a hallway, the pixels on the screen aren't actually too different from frame to frame, so it's hard to notice tears even when they happen. On the other hand if there's suddenly a violent camera shake from side to side...

I don't know, I'd advise against buying the fan-integrated heat sinks since you won't be able to easily replace the fan (a quick 10 dollar, 2-day delivery from Newegg) without having to go through the manufacturer's RMA/service deparment for a compatible part.

2nd Display adds 10C to idle GPU Temps?

That is normal, because the memory doesn't downclock at idle with multiple monitors. (By design.) I have heard that if all monitors are on Displayport connections, keeping the memory speed high at idle isn't necessary, but I don't put much stock into the rumor.

How do you overclock 7950 with msi afterburner ?

Go into CCC, the overclocking tab, and enable overclocking. Then go back to Afterburner and proceed to set clocks. If desired, run afterburner with the -xcl option to extend the clocks past CCC's limits. You will have to reboot for this to take effect. You only have to run it with -xcl once...

HP ZR2440w http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/monitors/product-detail.html?oid=5336204 If it's anything like the HPZR24w (which has a CCFL backlight) it will be quite bright out of the box, but has a great chassis and OSD.

Anyone use a big monitor in portrait mode?

Have used it on the secondary 1680x1050 monitor that sits to my left, and I don't think I'd want to go back to a widescreen landscape monitor as my secondary. However I feel like I'd flip out if I had to deal a primary monitor in portrait mode. As you said, looking up on a 24-incher is silly.

Single Display split image

That's what happens when the card's vram is running too fast (on my 6850 I could bump up the memory clock 25MHz past its stable limit, and in 20 seconds like clockwork the display would get offset like you describe). So if it's happening out of the box with no modifications, yeah it's a dud.

In my opinion, HBAO makes the game look like someone spilled copy toner all over the screen (look at that ugly scaffolding). SSAO and HDAO seem to each do better jobs in different scenes, and it's probably a matter of personal taste which is better visually.

ATI cards and no 2 dual link DVI, why?

I was going to mention that the single link and dual link connectors would obviously have identical pin holes so that either type of cable could fit into it, but then I noticed that all of the holes also have contacts in them, seemingly for no reason. Weird.

New 7950 major problem horizontal lines

I had an similar problem with a 7950, and it's cause for RMA. I never figured out exactly what it was, but I suspected something defective in the card's memory due to the way the horizontal bars resembled the brief flickering that appears on a secondary monitor when the memory speed changes.

flash videos (youtube) ignores OC presets

If I overclock with Afterburner, as opposed to through the drivers directly, it will keep the clocks at max if a 3D program needs it. I think it was with the unofficial overclocking mode, but I can't recall right now.
