"7 Watt" Ivy Bridge my arse!

From MS: If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86)...

    Windows Phone 8 Announcement

This is sort of true, but Google regularly makes statically-linked SDK compatibility layers for Froyo and Gingerbread that add support for the latest API updates -- only the ones that are essential to making a modern app. The latest SDK compatibility API layer adds support for the most important...

When is AMD going to release real 8 core chips?

performance wise in non-gaming applications Bulldozer consistently beats a Phenom II X6 1100T by the amount of the clockspeed difference or more, unless the app isn't well threaded. Thus, i feel safe calling the BD a "6-core equivalent"; obviously none of it's physical functions are in 6, but...

    Either HSPA+ is 4g or LTE isn't 4G

Ok so let's recap, the ITU defines 4G as LTE Advanced... Phone makers get pissed, market LTE as 4g.... market HSPA+ as 4g... ITU redefines 4G as faster than 3G. On what planet is LTE 4G but not HSPA+? The original ITU definition excluded both. The new Definition includes both. If you say LTE...

    Should Intel cancel IvyBridge altogether?

I just said this joke aloud because it amused me... unfortunately my mind slipped and i ended it like this: "4.5 ghz ought to be enough for anypony..."

    2 days with the Lumia 900 + WP7.5

I'll take the third option... Symbian/WM6.5/BB were competitors, but they didn't have all-touch HVGA screens... and a lot of app types just couldn't be done well on them because the hardware was too different. Android had a accelerometer, proximity sensor, GPS, 3G, WiFi, HVGA capacitive, and...

RIM is NOT leaving the consumer market?

Windows Phone? The 5th place worldwide OS, maybe 6th or 7th? With less apps than blackberry or symbian and less marketshare than Bada OS? Windows Phone? With no native API yet and not cross-platform development architecture, no multitasking (real, that is), poor keyboard support (landscape or...

Newsflash: Android phones are used for what people buy them for.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/07/statcounter-mobile-web-usage-doubling-every-year-nokia-leads-t/ welp, android has 25% of the share of mobile web browsing, just under apple. In addition, Nokia has a very healthy share. Yes, i know it's technically all the Android OEMs sales combined, but...

    Samsung Galaxy s2

The nitro has a higher res (720P), superior (IPS superbright) screen, LTE, similar CPU speed (higher clock, lower efficency balances out), and a bigger display (4.5 vs 4.3). The battery life is crap, the GPU is weaker, but overall it's a bettter phone if you compare spec by spec.

Verizon - Windows Phone not moving forward without LTE.

Not quite like this, because WP does allow for some hardware variation. In the next version they plan to allow for more, so one item of variation that is rumored is whether or not to use an LTE enabled chipset. Of course, the chipsets allowed are more liimted than Android.

Verizon - Windows Phone not moving forward without LTE.

65% of the US population is covered by Verizon 4G. And when people travel, they usually go to big cities. There are about 275 cities over 100,000 people and presumably around 175 of them have 4G. that's pretty good coverage for travelling, since most travellers wind up in big cities...

Verizon - Windows Phone not moving forward without LTE.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57335807-94/verizons-big-plans-for-4g-next-year/ From the article Ouch. Microsoft really needs Verizon's support since the USA is their strongest market for Windows Phone at the moment and Nokia is not helping them much there. AT&T is doing a modest Windows...

After much pain and suffering I decided on a Samsung Galaxy S 11 with ATT.

I would still recommend sticking with the GSII though. The GSII is awesome as a phone - the best on the market today. Good luck.

After much pain and suffering I decided on a Samsung Galaxy S 11 with ATT.

The PenTile screen is probably an effective 640p resolution, so it's still very good. It's still an awesome screen. It also has extremely thin margins around the screen, and no physical buttons, so it has a massive 4.65" screen that acts more like a 4.4" screen.
