I think it was a decent attempt to counter the "gut and amend" practices of the legislature. Honestly, I doubt the general public will bother with reading the posted laws and will most likely rely on the news agencies to digest the laws for them. I suppose giving the news agencies extra time...
I drove up to San Manuel Amphitheater area Thursday night and was able to see quite a few of the meteors quite clearly. If you're looking for somewhere a bit darker than the Ontario city areas, that's a decent option, although there's still a heavy amount of light pollution even there.
The legal issue that would be argued if this statute were used would be the meaning of "occupied". If the victim got out of the car and then shot, is he still considered occupying the vehicle for the purposes of the statute?
It's not rumor. Both carts are owned by the same people and they advertise as such. When I was last there, they'd often cook extra meat at one cart and then just carry it over to the other side if there wasn't enough to go around at the other cart.
Terry stops do not require probable cause but a lesser standard of reasonable suspicion. She would have needed probable cause for an arrest, but that's not what she was doing in the video. I doubt these two will receive any settlement from the city.
The trend for Asian Americans is definitely leaning more and more Democratic, however, the trend is relatively recent:

For Bill Clinton's first run in 1992, he garnered only 31% of the...
If you like Little Johns, you will probably like Paso Almond's Brittle:

They don't sell directly from http://pasoalmonds.com/ but you can get them from some other specialty stores that do ship, including mouth.com above.
You're definitely going to be your own biggest critic. Looks like you have an ideal aesthetic that you want to achieve, so at least you have a good goal to work towards. This site has a pretty cool filter of Reddit /progresspics posts where it shows people's transformations within a set...
You probably need to reread that section because the police union voted no confidence against Police Chief Flynn, not Manney, for his firing of Manney.
Are you unable to separate the actions of the legitimate protesters from the actions of the illegitimate looters? Do you really want society to get to a point where attacking the government becomes a reality?
I agree the Ferguson protests were a disaster but I don't believe their grievances are being ignored. If anything, it seems like their grievances are only picking up in steam. While ATPN is not indicative of the wider world, just look at how many police brutality threads there are. Look at...
While the protesters in Ferguson chose a poor champion for their cause, it does not mean their cause does not have merit. It is quite apparent that police are becoming ever more militarized against civilians and particularly against civilians in low income neighborhoods. Ivwshane is correct in...
Watch the Letterman interview linked a few posts above. Michelle Obama's story goes that she initially thought her cover was blown when the lady said, "Excuse me, I just have to ask you something." The lady then continued to ask if Michelle could get some detergent for her. Michelle then...
It was never changed. The ruling has always been "false" speech that incites violence, which makes perfect sense as I would want someone to yell "fire" if there was an actual fire approaching:

Here's the exact quote from Schenck...
I guess you didn't bother to read the article, so I shall quote the relevant parts for you:
Here's one witness that I referenced above, she claims to have seen another officer in the car, but there was not. Are you saying she's able to see people who aren't there or is the more likely...
There were ridiculous witnesses on both sides of the aisle, so why focus only on witness 40?

On the pro-Brown side, we have at least 3 instances of witnesses flat out lying too. We have...
Lol, when I read his post, it was so audacious and out of left field that it actually made me wonder for a second if maybe I was living in a different reality. I don't really know how people form dreadlocks but washing hair being a white thing was pretty comical. Sorry you had to actually...
The driver of that car was entirely at fault. He was behind another car that was stopped due to all of the protesters blocking the street. Other cars were slowly going around the left of the stopped car. The idiot driver who hit the protesters decided he wasn't going to wait any longer, went to...
You should read the Scotusblog post I linked earlier. While the way this GJ hearing was handled is unusual, it's not unprecedented. The biggest concern from the legal community is that this creates a two tiered system; one for law enforcement and one for the general public.
Here's a good discussion by Scotusblog about the unusual nature of this GJ proceeding. The viewpoint is mainly from the perspective of a federal GJ hearing but it's still relevant for understanding some of the legal community's concerns about the Wilson hearing...
Yes, I agree that public opinion should have no place in swaying court proceedings and GJ hearings, however, I'm a little less certain about whether it should affect a prosecutor's decision of whether they should flat out tell the public there isn't enough to indict or if they should have the GJ...
Sure, if that's your take on it, that's fine. I partially agree. I haven't personally been put in a situation where my decision could cause mass rioting and destruction of an entire city, so it's harder for me to judge. It's definitely one of those grayer issues that lawyers deal with.
My...
That is exactly what he should have done but can you imagine what would have happened if he did that? Instead, public pressure forced his hand into having a GJ hearing. The prosecutor's biggest problems are that he was unable to stand his ground against that public pressure (maybe reasonable...
Your post pretty much sums up how probably every kid who grew up with the Jurassic Park series feels. It wouldn't matter if it was Jurassic Park 15: Return of the Human-Dino Hybrid Toasters, we'd probably still shell out the money to watch in the hopes of recapturing some of the original's...
Yea, those people stay in South OC where McDonald's gets 5 stars on Yelp. White flight pushes them ever further southbound. Anything north of Lake Forest is going to be much more ethnically diverse.
Man, that grocery index makes no sense. You have a couple of big Chinese supermarkets right at the heart of Rockville and an HMart just a bit further up. That should significantly lower that grocery index right there. ;)
What is required isn't "clear and explicit" but a preponderance of the evidence that the person in question had the intent to renounce citizenship. Anyways, smackbaby's statement didn't have enough details to say whether the legal standard had been satisfied but it's not a myth that you can...
What you stated is quite literally just a viewpoint or your belief, which is fine. There are no true natural rights as rights are entirely enforced by the beliefs of a society. There is no universal right to equality nor is there a universal right to freedom of speech. They are both...
Yea, I think you need to reevaluate your statement. Fighting for equality was a fight to make society in the image they believed it should be. Your belief in equal rights is quite literally what you believe society should be as I am sure you can find plenty of people in this world that do not...
Eye witness accounts are incredibly unreliable without corresponding physical evidence. As an anecdote, I was sitting two cars back at a traffic light once when I heard a large bang and a large cloud of dust appear at the intersection. My view was limited due to being behind two cars so I had...
