Slow speed and conflicting info ????

Hi, I got a new contract for internet a 50Mb speed, but internet felt slow so I open the task manger of W8 and it says that I am downloading at 20-25Mb/s but generally on steam I only get 2-2,5Mb/s, on torrents I get the same and general download it is alway more or less that. Funny thing...

Anyone else have an E-350/C-60 rig? What do you use it for?

You could install Linux and get a much better web browsing and multimedia experience! Maybe even play some Steam games for Linux.

If desktop CPUs are already fast enough, why doesn't AMD CPUs sell?

I would blame 32nm vs 22nm, their CPU as they are would be really good on 22nm (~half the die size and lower price) and its expected power usage (~30-40% less)!

Im calling out Hexa Core owners.

Personally I feel that cinebench is a great indicator of how well video/audio editing software answers in real time editing scenarios in stuff like reaper or vegas. Althought I can almost only try lower end cpus :'(

Hi Anyone tried to underclock and undervolt a piledriver cpu? What about power consumption. I am trying to find some power usage numbers for recent AMD cpu or even apu. Thing is I will probably update my pc in 1-2 weeks and the fx6300 seems the best choice in price/performance ratio...

How long is Core 2 Duo going to be relevant?

Slower CPUs than that are probably still quite fast for anything but "higher end" gaming or content/multimedia production. The thing that PCs are most used for have had all the power they need for a few years already IMO. BTW if you want to get faster and do mostly websurfing office you...

Vishera Review Up - Anandtech

Anandtech could really use some updating to some the benchmarks.... I mean Photoshop CS4 (in TomH it gets in first with PS CS6). Although nice to see W8. It would be cool to see some hibryd x86/openCL apps (like sony Vegas). Anyway it seems a really nice chip, the only (small?) problem...

AMD Realizes Significant Reduction in Power Consumption by Implementing Cyclos Resona

In the multimedia market it does have enormous potential (a good number of prosumer apps like Powerdirector or Magix video stuff shows it) and in the gaming too (eg physycs). That alone is a bigger market than ATI/Nvidea ever had, in many of todays non-generic uses a (i?)gpu is a big plus IMO.

You are right there is a 540 on laptops but not on desktops. Wouldn't I notice any difference during the editing itself, it is really a bad time to upgrade anything else, it is also the cheaper upgrade, even considering a soon to be obsolete architecture (like AM3 that is a dead end) But...
