29" 21:9 (1080P stretch) or 27" (1440p) for productivity?

I currently have a 23" 16:9 1080p monitor. Would like to upgrade to a new monitor for productivity purposes (side by side windows reading PDFs on one side, word doc other etc...) Which would suit my purposes better a 27" 1440p screen or a 29" 21:9 screen? They are approx the same price...

Which has Better performance? i7 4790S or Xeon E3 1230 V3?

I'm building a new system, trying to go low on a budget, the Xeon is approx $65 AUD cheaper than the 4790S....but the 4790S can turbo to 4 ghz where the Xeon is only up to 3.7ghz where the base rate is 3.2ghz for the i7 and 3.3ghz for the Xeon... My question is which one would have better...

Citation needed. Personal experience here: I have both windows 8.1 and Mavericks machines here in the office (the Mac has slightly better hardware, but it is a more expensive machine) and pretty much everything is more snappy on the windows 8.1 machine. Including all the usual software...

Let's look at the facts presented in this thread. Has Intel committed fraud? No. Tiger direct is able to advertise the products they sell however they like. Has Tiger Direct committed fraud? Maybe... Has AMD commuted fraud? Maybe... Has Tiger Direct and AMD done something unethical...

Why does intel suck?

The answer is simple why AMD cannot gain market share. Businesses, education, and the government sectors are the largest marketshare of computers. They don't need fast gpu performance, what they want is low power, silence, decent cpu grunt, which is where intel shines and AMD well doesn't...

Will ivy cpu sell out real fast?

It's a 95W TDP part...which doesn't always = power consumption. On IVB power consumption will be lower...but the amount of heat removal will be the same due to heat over a smaller surface area. I should say though if I can find a *really* good 2600k/2700k deal when IVB comes out I'll take that...

You mean median... Average is correct in that case, median number would indicate the number 50% of people have higher and 50% have lower. Depending on the sample the average can be much higher than the median.

Single 560Ti and 3 monitors? (desktop not gaming) possible?

I'm really confused at how some people in this thread are claiming that "for the majority of people" that graphics performance is more important than cpu performance. Maybe for gamers, but for the majority of people? I have an old laptop that runs a core 2 duo and some form of intel GMA 3xxx...

Worth using Z68 SRT to boost a 2.5" notebook drive?

I'm still wondering, isn't the limiting factor the 2.5" drive? Because I'd be loading all my applications onto the 2.5" drive, would it really be faster than a good 7200 rpm 3.5" drive?

Worth using Z68 SRT to boost a 2.5" notebook drive?

I am looking to build a new ssf gaming rig. However the case I want can only hold 1 3.5" HDD but can hold 2 2.5" HDDs. I'd like to save the 3.5" HDD for a slower 2TB storage drive, and get a 7200rpm 500-1TB drive for main and a cheap 32GB SSD (Patroit PS-100, Kingston SNV125-S2) for the SRT...
