    Exactly, I don't do much on my desktop besides gaming and stuff that doesn't much use much memory such as web browsing and word processing. Hence, it's probably not worth me or others with similar computing requirements getting massive amounts of RAM even if it is cheap.

    ^This. 4GB is just fine really, it works for me. But you won't be able to run a performance graphics card off of that OEM 300W PSU.

    Really? I have 4GB of physical DDR3 and the machine never seems to use much more than 1.5GB, it doesn't bottleneck performance at all. But that in mind I rarely have much going on in the background when I'm playing games.

    Get a Radeon 6850 or 6870. They've got one of the best price/performance ratios out there, and I have a 6850 in my pc that gives a solid 60 FPS for just about anything I throw at it.

    I don't have any experience with that card, but if it is a great card then yeah you should definitely see about updating the drivers and such to see if you can run BF3 properly before you go running off to buy a $400 card for no good reason.

    I've got a Phenom II X6 1090T ~3.2GHz and it runs everything I've thrown at it so far very well indeed, and it was very cheap as well for a six core processor, about £105 I think. Only complaints I have is that it has quite a high power consumption (125W) when compared to similar Intel processors.

    Is this build meant to be a file server only? If so I think the Core 2 Duo is overkill. 550W is probably a bit excessive as well, I have run more powerful machines than this on a Corsair 430W. I would try and get something silent though, unless you are putting it in the basement or something.

    I have heard good things about Arctic Silver's thermal pastes before, but I also heard that AMD specifically warn against its use with their processors and it will void the warranty. Sounds a bit uncompetitive of them, so I think it could be untrue though.
