I used Aconis to back up my Maxtor SATA300 500gb drive, then played around with the settings reloading Vista twice to see how to get the drive going at SATA300 speeds.
Hooked it up to the Gigabyte serial connection, set the controller to AHCI and loaded the driver for it before installing...
I have gotten mine figured out part way. Gigabyte was no help. They just said the SATA drives are setup automatically, and sometimes SATA300 doesn't mean they work at SATA300 speeds. ???? Gave me a link to some drive spec's at Tomshardware.

I dropped my P4 2.6 cpu fsb down to 240 for 3.12ghz at 1.625v and Memory at 5:4 for 192MHz at 2.85v at 2-3-3-6 and now have good stability. I ran Prime 95 all night with no errors. Here are my benchmarks using Sandra 2004:

I got mine figured out. I thought the problem might have been in the Raid controller, so I disconnected from it and hooked my drives to the regular IDE connector. It booted up and ran fine. I wanted to confirm it for sure, so rehooked up to the Raid controller and this time it also booted fine...

One thing on the Extended Warrenties, if you plan on opening the unit to upgrade the hard drive, the warrenty will not matter. The Series One units had a sticker that basically got destroyed if you tried to do anything to open the unit.
