sub-$30 video cards

You could always get a low end 4 series from Nvidia such as the GT 430. I have been running GT 240s for a couple years on a couple computers. Good workhorse computer for light gaming and everyday use.

Better Bang for buck is GTX 670 or GTX 660 TI ?

Basically, the cheaper the card, the better bang for the buck. But, if the card doesn't meet your needs or expectations, its not worthwhile. Just get the GTX 660TI and stop with these threads. Lastly, overclocking isn't that dangerous. The longevity of computer parts exceeds its useful life...

Is there any way to flash an MSI motherboard without a CPU?

If you state the town you live in at the moment in a for sale post, you might be able to get a member from this forum to help you for a small price. An elderly gentleman did this about two weeks back and was able to get help installing a router for the small cost of a cup of coffee.

Has anyone tried the beta UEFI BIOS on their Gigabyte board?

I have used UEFI since the day it was released for my Z68XP-UD3 motherboard. I have not had an issue except when I first installed it, it would not go past the boot screen. I had to reinstall UEFI another time and it worked.

Does replacing the stock TIM on a reference 680 make a difference in temps? (edit:No)

Something looks familiar there :-D. Anyways, reapplying TIM using doesn't help too much. Different TIM makes a little difference of 4 C and how you apply it makes a significant impact. Many manufacturers have gotten their act together and apply it decently.

Has anyone tried the beta UEFI BIOS on their Gigabyte board?

Vailr is right. I did that process through google searching for how to update the bios. I did it for a Z68xp-ud3 board. It allowed me to finally overclock my i5-3570k. The UEFI fixed the overclocking bug for Ivy Bridge and improved my bootup speed. Great update from Gigabyte!

Thermaltake V9 BlacX with 2 disk bays on top $60ar...

nVidia vs. ATI - Driver Quality?

Power consumption definitely makes me lean towards the HD 7850. You should get the HD 7850 or wait for a comparable card to come out from Nvidia. Personally, I am waiting for the GTX 680 to drop below $350 which I know will take quite some time.
