Clearly there were no better performance per dollar cards out there at that time. Certainly there weren't any $300 GTX 570s. Nor were there any $350 GTX 570 2.5GB cards. Certainly the only suitable comparison was the $600+ GTX 580 cards.

Well, since the only way AMD can win a benchmark now is with overclocking, that means the only acceptable way to compare GPUs is Nvidia's stock versus AMD's fully overclocked. Obviously we wouldn't be hearing this is AMD's GPUs were fully competitive, but we can't expect much else.

Where did I state it would be 80% faster? Where? I stated a definitive fact. A full GK110 has 87.5% of the shading capability of the GTX 690. I don't have the tiniest clue how you are going to disprove this fact, since GK110 has 15 SMX units and GK104 has 8 SMX units. It isn't rocket science.
