It would appear to. According to the manual, the eSATA ports are powered by an ASMedia ASM1061 controller. According to this forum post, the ASMedia ASM1061 controller supports port multipliers.
SAS is Serial Attached SCSI. Remember, that plug must have both data and power, so it is very possible that it is serial in nature.

I just bought some Hitachi Ultrastar 15k600 hard drives. They were supposed to be SAS 6 Gb/s, but they don't have a normal SAS connector. Can anyone tell me what connector they have, and if I can get an adapter to SAS?
