Just retired my old A8N-SLI Premium/Athlon x2 s939 with one of my Q6600 and got 2600k.
Considering to replace the other with 3939k when find somebody to pass who will use it - this baby should get running at least 3+ more years
With 8 x DIMM Slots Mobos just launched, there will be some time untill 8G DIMMs get low to $40 (4G are $20 ATM).
Not much demand for 64GB RAM on desktop systems these days.

1. Get rid of E3-1275. It is named "Xeon", but is actually Sandy 2600 (without the K). It is pure desktop CPU.
2. Get dual socket G34 Mobo. One with all (16) DIMM slots on it. Like H8DGi. ~$450.
3. Get 16 cheap 4GB DIMMs for ~$300.
4. Fill it with 2 cheap Opterons. 6128 for ~$220...
Actually will be around 2.2 times slower.
4180 is Thuban architecture, which is at 2.6 GHz is ~2.2 times slower core per core than 2600 at 3.4 GHz. Assuming editing job is AVID/Final cut or something similar, the actual interactive task don't scales more than 4 threads, if at all scales, so will...
For encoding you will get 36 FPS for 2600 vs 50FPS for 2x4180 in x264 HD Benchmark 3.03.
~$470 for 2600 vs ~$600 for 2x4180 for CPU + Mobo.
Note that Video Editing will sux hard in opterons, about twice slower and less responsive.
The video editing software scales to 12 cores only when renders...
